ok last year I went to CDL school, passed got the CDL and I was off. I started at US Xpress....long story short I didn't make it through orientation; I needed a medical release for something very minor. (to be on the safe side once i got home form usx i went to the dr and got a medical release for the next company)
after usx i went to another company, i was in the trainers truck for a day and received word that my dad has been diagnosed with cancer, and only had a few weeks. I went home, and about 2 months later my dad was gone.
A few months after my dad passed, i went to another company (one that will train you if you have a family member that drives for them) I made it through orientation just fine, then on the final day my uncle was fired. So i had no choice but to go home.
So i put driving on the back burner again...at least until now. I applied at Swift and they told me I didn't qualify because of the number of orientations that I've attended in the past year.
I fear this may be something I'm going to hear from every company I apply to from now on. Does anyone know of any that might understand that sometimes things happen? Or should I just give up on my dream and keep on working in this crappy call center?
Any answers are appreciated.
Thanks everyone
Do I have a chance anywhere?

My best suggestion would be to not quit tryin hell ya never know them companies may not have been what ya wanted anyway find some place that not only needs ya but wants ya

Couldn't get on at SWIFT??? (That's a first for me!!)
Try to find something local or class B for a year. -
Try CRST
OR possibly Navajo -
first of all late me say i'm sorry to hear of your loss,i've been there too. i would assume if you explain about your fathers death to the HR people at whatever company you apply to,they will probably overlook the "job hopping". as for Swift, they probably lumped you into that "undesireable/unreliable" catagory and blew you off. if you can grab the gears and back the truck without help-try a smaller outfit(reefer) who needs someone who wants to work. when the big guys blew me off for what i had done in my younger years, i got on with a small reefer outfit and ran hard--now all the big guys are CALLING ME constantly, good luck!!!

You don't need to give up as there are companies that will give you a break....you just have to find them...as much as I hate to say this.....try CRST....good luck...

Usually with backgroud problems we tell you to go to the big companies but in your situation since you truely seem to have valid reasons you will probably need to find a smaller company where someone actually sits you down and talks with you instead of just punching your specs into a computer. But then again small co's don't like no experience so it isn't going to be easy.
