I've taken a few and was kinda just curious on how accurate they are compared to the real one.

In particular, this one. I'm guessing that's about as accurate as a practice test can get since its a government site. But I would think the actual test would be a lot more specific than most of the practice tests I've taken. I've been getting anywhere between 90-100% on the practice exams.

Main question though, is how accurate are these practice tests to the actual permit test?

I'm not in a school yet but am planning on it. Got 86% on Woodys link which is enough to pass but the ones I missed were likely the important ones. Most of it seemed to be common sense.

Woody's--how about right on this site...there are practice tests in the above toolbar,
--your question how similar was the test site you listed to the real test..well pretty close..the questions are very similar!
I recommend the site that 900,000tonsof steel recommended, truckers report site and another listed below.
    http://www.truckingtruth.com/cdl-test/cdl-test-practice.html

All the sites have similar questions--all helpful in taking the state test--I did not push it--as I recall I took
one test at a time, then studied for the next!

    Good Luck

The test on this site (above in the tool bar) are very close, word for word! Keep taking them over and over but beware that when the computer spits out the test it times your response. What I mean is if it asks you a question about landing gear and you answer in 2 seconds it thinks you know that subject and won't ask more about it. On the other hand if it asks about conecting your break lines and you take a while the computer will assume you don't know that subject and give you more on that topic. Just keep going over them I passed them all first time.

Yea, I've seen after taking nearly all of the "good" practice tests they all pretty much ask the same questions with different wording.

For the actual CDL permit test though, all you have to take is the general knowledge right? The air brakes, hazmat, extra tailers/tankers are only necessary when you get your official CDL?

    Thanks in advance.

You need the COMBINATION VEHICLES and AIRBRAKES test, too! Take them all at once is the best advice you can be given. It will open more doors for you from jump.

The 3 basic are general knowledge, air brakes, and combination. If you take hazmat, tanker, doubles it will be extra. If you're nervous take the three you need and add the others later. Swift requires you to have your permit already and a DOT physical if your state makes you have it to test. If your state don't then you can pay $40 and take it at the school. At least that's what I was told. I was originally going to CR England but do to some family issues I wasn't able. Then the swift recruiter called me back. When things are resolved I may go there.
