Average miles per day

Hub mile is the odometer reading... usually you are not paid hub miles, so Hub miles and paid miles vary.

 

The miles on the odometer. You might drive 100 miles but get paid for 80 or 60 miles.

 

"Hub miles" is paid off a hub meter that is put on the trailer normally.

Years ago, guys were getting paid miles paid off the odometer, they figured out how to cheat it, so they put a hubmeter to measure distance on a non-driven trailer tire. No way to really cheat that.

As it was explained to me, some guys would jack up the axle and just let the truck idle while they slept collecting the miles.

 

yeah I've been told many stories about those days and now thanks to those dishonest few u get guys like me driving 30 to 50 miles more per load cause of that. But another thing worth mentioning is some companies pay zip.code to zip code and you definitely don't want that.

 

I just get paid by the load. I love it that way. Keeping it short and easy is the fun part now.

I get 87% of the load. I'm an O/O leased on to BigBadBill.

 

Danm my wife drives 10-11 hours straight nonstop but she doesnt drink a whole lot of fluids, her truck hold 300 gals of fuel, and she does her pretrip and fuelling at the same time. She only eats when she parks for the night. Me I yave to stop about every 2 hours thank god there is 2 miles of ditch for every mile of road or I would be in trouble

 

Awesome. So, for those of us that don't know what that translates to, could you give us a comparison from how much your paycheck changed compared to what a company driver would make (30 to 50 cpm) and does it really vary from what a regular owner op makes ($1.50 to $3.00 per mile) ... ? That is if u don't mind.

 

Average miles per day does border on legal or not. Last log book ticket i got 3 weeks ago, the CHP told me, " I don't care if you drive the next 11 hours non stop when you leave here, but right now you are 4 minutes late on your 11 max. Answer is, it is a math done clock not driving time clock.
