Air Horn etiquette?

I'll give it a blast for kids, even in towns, as long as it is during the day time. For high school kids and adults I don't, not even out on the open road.

 

I won't at night driving through a small town. Don't need to wake everyone up with that.
I've done it for little kids some times. Again, usually not driving through a town. I was in a traffic backup in Louisiana and a little kid motioned for me to blow my air horn, so I did. He waved his hand at me and walked off as if to say "your air horn sucks, I'm going to find someone else!"

..darn kids.

And I thought this thread was going to be something else. My original reply was going to be "just give them the finger"...but you shouldn't do that to kids.

 

Im with Oscar the KW on this one. I blow it everytime when its kids (with the night time exception) and sometimes for the high school/college kids on the open road.

 

Most of the time I do.

 

I only blow mine when entering and leaving the truck stop at 3am...

 

Generally when I'm passing by a golf course or going past a lake where someone is fishing ...

 

I've caught a couple in the middle of a swing. Dirty but fun! US-71 Belle Vista, AR at the MO state line is a good golf course by the highway I use to frequent.

For the most part I'm quiet. I'll toot the kids if I know the driver is aware. Otherwise I give the fake horn with the arm and get the disappointed look.

 

Yes, I did that in Michigan driving by a golf course. Just as the guy started on the down swing, I blasted it, and he plowed the golf club into the dirt, then threw the club toward me.

 

Boy MisticHZ and Cowmobile that is just plain mean. Did you ever hear of Karma? It is no wonder all truckers have a bad rep with the general population.
