Do you still have to do an agility test for the flatbed side? I haven't played with tarps since about June of 2011 and I only did it for a short time.
Going to Nashville!

Just toss a 145lb tarp on the flatbed from the ground twice. That is all the physical testing I encountered. Be advised the Quality Inn on Brick Church Pike where the drivers are housed during orientation, is currently undergoing renovation. There is mold in the air throughout the motel. If you are sensitive, I suggest making other housing arrangements. Rooms in the immediate area are between $36+tax and $100+tax per night. Western might reimburse up to half of that. However check with your recruiter.
I was assigned a trainer today, but he is not leaving until Sunday. I should have my own truck the week of the 28th if everything works out well. As this thread was about the orientation I will no longer add to it. Once I get on the road I'll start a training thread. I hope this thread has been informative and helpful. I also would like to thank everyone for not letting this thread become a bashing thread. -
It sounds more complicated than EOBR classes, the trainers there was a shortage when I finished my orientations!

What a week! Left Nashville last Monday. Went to the Chino CA in a 4 truck Western Express convoy! Got there got unloaded went over to a steel company load a couple of Coils headed out to Salt Lake City.dropped those off loaded some conduit and headed for Phoenix. When we deliver in Connecticut Monday we will be sitting just shy of 6000 miles for this week. got a few more things to do with the trainer and by next Saturday I should be headed back so I can test out Monday and hopefully get my own truck on the same day. Do not listen to the naysayers about this company this is a good company so far as I've been able to determine. I have been treated very good so far. I have a great trainer this company's vehicles are for the most part in very good shape. It is what you make it.
CWiLL23 Thanks this. -
Sorry for the double update apparently my tablet decided to have a hooka break... ahem.
The final week is nearly complete, this is the second week if you been counting. Currently in Kentucky headed back to Nashville I'll be in there tomorrow finish a couple classes get get everything cleared out and hopefully get my truck tomorrow. But I'm not holding my breath for that to happen as I am not sure which division I'm going to end up in.
I know tomorrow will consist of an EOBR class new truck class a road test and some log audits. beyond that it's pretty much in the air. So stay tuned don't go anywhere, and tomorrow night could be the last update to this thread. if tomorrow night is the last time I update this thread I will start a new 1 dealing with life in the solo fleet here at Western. -
Great information BJnobear! I'm a former OTR driver and am considering a return to the industry early next year. I'm interested in flatbed at Western since I see so many of their trucks roll through OKC often. Please keep us advised of your new gig!
