Thanks Keyster, the company I work for is relatively small and it costs a lot of money to have such a high turnover rate, which looks bad on me. My ultimate goal is to move on from recruiting eventually, but stay within this company, which means I would end up having to deal with the downfall of a lying recruiter eventually.

    1) Let me work.

    2) Pay me for the work I have performed.

    3) If the truck is broken or unsafe, FIX THE DAM*ED TRUCK!

    4) Finally, PAY ME FOR THE WORK I HAVE PERFORMED!
I agree and I say it all the time I don't care what you want me to do just pay me. Most companies I've worked for have a misc hourly rate but my current employer treats me like mileage pay is a sort of all inclusive salary.(that's how I feel)

I hate losing my post.Jessi12 I commend you for asking trk drivers. That's a start to finding good drivers. So many have it memorized what they'll say and don't know a thing about that company. For me what recruiters say goes in one ear and out the other.Part of the reason for so many companies the first 2 yrs cause I believed what I heard.Right now I stay with a company due to the bad economy and im lucky to have a job.Plus it sucks starting a company and learning how they do things.A company is a company and anybody who's been driving long enough knows that. They'll do their own findings about a certain company rather then believe some voice on the other end. I normally ask drivers for that company how they like it and how long they've been there.I think many are looking on the money side and soon find out that's not the case. .What keeps me with the company im at now is everyone is nice and me being the only female local driver their out of 22 they guys look out for me.I would say a great bunch of people are there.Someone mention fix the trk if it needs fixed.I agree 100%.Don't wait till it gets back to your shop to get it fixed because you save a few bucks.Last company I drove for was small and getting anything fixed on the road was like pulling teeth.

Thats true Pattyj. What one company lacks in home time, they might make up for in better pay and vice versa. Thats the same with any other industry, each company has good and bad points. It all comes down to what is most important to each individual person I guess.

I think some recruiters say what the driver wants to hear based on comission and/or they desparately need drivers.I don't get it,whats the point stretching the truth when that driver will quit in a month if even that. Then it cost alot to recruit drivers does'nt it?You bring the person in,pay for physical, drug test put him up in a hotel, ect ect.

Yes it does cots a lot to bring people in. But a lot of the bigger companies do pay their recruiters commission, and that's when a recruiter starts looking out for their own bank account instead of the company's. I get paid the same no matter what. Obviously I want to do a good job in order to keep my job, but I want them to stay here for a long time too because like I said, I want to move up in the company and if they look at my record and see that I have wasted money on drivers that we knew good and well weren't going to stay, then that will look bad on me.

And that's the way they recruit! Lie, Lie, Lie and when you're done lie once more. Recruiting is all about bodies. Qualify a body and get him into orientation. Once they are in a truck a certain percentage will hang around just because and that's what carriers and recruiters rely on. The average recruiter is lower than pond scum and smells just a bad!

    *snickers*

Anyway, basically if you just do the right thing, keep up your end on pay / agreed off-time / equipment maint. / competent planning, you'll more than likely have no issues.
