That being said, I like eLogs. On the other hand I don't drive. What I really like is OER data, now I can tell if you're an unsafe driver, well no actually I can't. But I can use the data to contact you and see what you say. Like let's say you break from 50 to 27 in second, when I ask you about it and you say something like I came around the corner and traffic was stopped, that tells me you don't look far enough ahead. If there is a blind corner you're coming around and traffic is stopped why were you going 50. It allows me to develop a pattern and bring it to your attention. you can either accept it and change, or not and maybe some day have an accident. It's not predictive, but it gives us talking points about things that actually happened to you. So it ends up being like a personalized safety message as opposed to a generic fleet wide message that may or may not apply to you (PS, we still send those as well)

Please enlighten all of us mere mortals as to how you are able to see around a blind corner and see that traffic is stopped.

That is true, but that is not the reason that the proponents of this legislation are giving for the reason to push for Elogs. They are making the claim that it is for safety, even though that has never been proven. According to these people, Elogs will make roads safer. It it were stated that they were only for compliance, the bill might not have passed. If you vote against Elogs then you must not be for safe roads. That is their reasoning.

Don't ya just wish that all drivers were as perfect as safety guys?

I'm still working on my ESP skills.

You must live where there are only flat straight roads....otherwise you'd never get anywhere.

I'm not looking for perfection, I'm looking for improvements. But seriously, if your answer was I couldn't see around the corner you need to back your speed off. If you learn from it great, if you don't and your answer if what you just put up there it's not going to work out. When you slow down from 50 to 27 in one second odds are your cargo just shifted, now the customer is upset and we're going to have a claim. So you still get paid for your miles, however we're paying 25K on claim and you could care less because it's not your fault. If you cant own some of the responsibility then I'll start searching for another driver.

In your search for improvement you are killing the industry. Accidents happen. No amount of regulation can make a human being perfect. Driverless trucks are coming. Then we'll both be out of work.

Never happen! I haven't seen any "slot car tracks" being considered for Interstate distribution....also, if you watch the videos, they are operated in a "train" configuration, the lead "car" is the "pilot car" with all the controls. Can you even fathom how the logistics could even be put together for all the different warehouses, mall docks, "main street deliveries".....feasibly impossible!
