Yes, I am the driver that was asking about Information for experienced drivers going to CRST a couple weeks ago. Yes I went to orientation and everything went as agreed. However, I was placed with a trainer (yes, a trainer after driving trucks since 2001) who apparently was/is a drug addict. Long story short, he faked an injury just so he could get his shots of Dilaudid. After that, we were sitting. Finally get rolling after almost a week of sitting and listening to his mouth... I ask for an advance and this is the response that I got(pictured above). It's bad enough that I spent all my "spending money" during orientation and the week I was sitting, but then to see that was a slap in the face. So now I am sitting in the comfort of my living room with my wonderful wife. Needless to say that little journey cost roughly $300,and now I'm back to square one.
I am not complaining. Not whatsoever. I am just posting this to add to the plethora of other bad comments about this bottom feeding company who could give two ##### about you or you're wellbeing.
Stay away, FAR AWAY!

Think you're gonna be able to take personal advances from CRST? Think again.

I can't say that I disagree with their point. Here you are a new-hire...asking for an advance on pay that you haven't yet earned. They have no way to know whether you are responsible enough to manage your money or not...all they see is this guy they JUST hired asking for an advance on money he has yet to earn. If they give you this cash advance, rather than getting a first paycheck you'll already be in the hole...so you ask for another advance to make up for the fact that your paycheck was non-existent. Those cash advances are a GREAT way to wind up in the hole (and they know it...probably seen 1,000+ drivers before you make that mistake)...and then you start going onto internet forums complaining about how you aren't making any money at CRST, using your "leftover" paycheck amount as proof that you aren't making any money while completely leaving out the fact that you'd already taken most of your paycheck for that week as a cash advance.
Personally, I can't say that I blame them. Too many drivers get in over their heads with those cash advances...Lonesome Thanks this. -
I have to agree with your post. In most jobs the idea of an advance is not even an option basically because of what you stated. An advance this week means youll be short next week as well so when does the need for advances go away? I have a question about advances.. Do these companies charge interest on advances? So if they loan you $100 next week do they hold back $105 or 110?
Or is it an interest free loan? -
You should probably read the rest of my posts before you start blasting me on here. Just my opinion..

I'm not saying you are one of the drivers who would have got in over your head with the cash advances. I'm not even saying your situation might not have been out-of-the-ordinary enough to warrant the need for taking one. However, you were new to the company. They don't know you from any other new-hire they've seen walk through their doors, and I'm sure they've had plenty of experience with new-hires digging themselves in too deep with those cash advances. You hadn't been with them long enough to actually earn the money you are asking to have advanced to you.
It was nothing personal against you...all I was saying is that I can understand where they are coming from.buckeyetrucker1976 Thanks this. -
It states you have been a driver for 11y and you don't have a 200$ or 300$ in the bank?
Sorry but if i was your boss i wouldn't advance you also.
And why,if your trainer is a drug addict, did you stay with him?
Thats my opinion.Lonesome Thanks this. -
11yrs in the trucking industry, and you've not advanced past CRST ? 'nuff said...

Your a new driver. Earn your stripes before you can fly type thing. They wont give you money until you learn how to operate a commercial motor vehicle safely AND efficiently. Your a liability and when you don't know anything about the job, all you are doing is costing the company thousands of dollars. Im so tired of students nowadays. They have this entitlement mentality. Why does the company or your trainer OWE you creature comforts when you burn and burn fuel by your over revving. Reckless driving and whining all day long to where neither you or your trainer can make any money cause the only person getting s
