    man i love 400-500 mile runs,on 1 day off the next with a reload the same day,the only time you get paid is when the load is taken off the trailer

    This is why nothing will ever change with how drivers are treated. To many people happy to sit for 4 days because "that's trucking"

    Couldnt agree more!!...until trucking co's are FORCED to CHANGE their behavior...then nothing will change!!

    Too many driver are just plain satisfied with STATUS QUO..

    I could be wrong. I don't think USA allows splits. To many drivers messing up the logs.

    My company doesn't allow the either because THEY keep messing up auditing them. That's fine with me I hate getting crappy sleep.

    About "split sleeper": I have NEVER hauled a load that I felt was important enough for me to attempt to alter my sleep pattern. Sorry; must have put it on the wrong truck.

    That's just it...the HOS do NOT work!:biggrin_25525:

    Had a nice little encounter with one of USA's finest very, very early this morning around Memphis. First, he fails to dim his lights as he is approaching me from the left. Very slowly, to maximize the time he blinds me, of course. I hit my markers a few times, even give my highs a quick flash. Finally, he gets it. Then he's having lane control issues. I'm thinking, swell....just great.

    Finally, just after the West Memphis scales on 40, he decides he's going to exit whatever that exit is where all the truck stops are (I never stop there). Oh, but wait! No, not this exit, he decides....so quickly back in front of me to go to the next exit. As I'm passing him, I notice he has his high beams on again. Considering that area is very well-lit....no, I wasn't surprised.
