Great to hear some positive comments about your training experience. Good luck and Drive safe!

I never went with a TE, but I'm glad you like Schneider. They have their pros and cons like any company, but more pros than cons in my case. Just remember to be smart with your money and save. Meaning get a 12V cooler, lunchbox oven, GPS, XM radio, and a good CB. Those items will keep you in the $$$ range every time.

Yeah I did good in not spending $ on the road. Only had to buy 1 pack of smokes and coffee plus we only ate at a restaurant once.. I think I spent like 20 bucks total.. rest of the time we had sandwiches or stuff I could microwave at the truck stop..
I'm already saving my cash to get the items you listed cuz I want my money to go home not left in the road..I also liked how a majority of the other pumpkin drivers were very friendly when we were out..
Thanks for the advice.. -
Good luck and glad you had fun while out with your TE. I can assure you that alot of things will happend once you are on your own that you TE didn't cover. If it happens, call your TE up and ask his take on it and hopefully they will take the time to help unlike some TE's out there. Once they get you off the truck, they don't wanna hear from you again. First and foremost, I would suggest buying a lunchbox oven. Those things are awesome and you can cook alot of different things with them. I personally like to stock up on canned food that have the pull tab tops to heat up in the oven. One thing that will help is to get well stocked up on things that don't need to be kept refigerated or in a cooler, like canned meats, ie tuna, chicken, things you know you like as well as bottled water. There are many threads on these forums with excellent ideas of what things you should start with and what can wait, like the XM/Sirrius radio. A good cb is very helpful but you don't have to buy the most expensive one to start with if you don't have the money. Just remember to start small and work your way up because just as you are starting out, when it's time to move up to some better equip, it's always easy to sell your used gear to a newbie at a good price to help them out as well. If every driver would remember that he was a rookie and newbie at one time, things would be a lot better out here.

I second the lunch box oven. But I must add that instead of buying the aluminum inserts at the truck stops, go to Walmart. They have some that are 4 for a $1. They're smaller, but you don't need a huge one. Or, if you do need a huge one (heh, lol), just use two of the smaller Walmart ones.

When I had one (I need a new one), I'd use aluminum foil. Even the cheap stuff will do. Oh, it's tough to keep soup in it, but hey...ya can't have everything! The foil worked well often enough.Female Driver Thanks this.

Okay, if you want to be low class like 48P, wrap yer soup up in foil. If you want to be classy like me, go buy the real thing at the store where all us classy people shop, Walmart, lol.
48Packard Thanks this. -
That's great right there!! LOL!!
But I'll have you know that is not the ONLY way I can be low-class, so there!Female Driver Thanks this. -
Bwahhahhha!
Yeah, I'm just one of those snobby Wally World shoppers.
