1. Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

I got a question?

JohnDeereTruckin, I've been driving truck for about a year commercially now. I started out like you hauling grain on the family farm in Nebraska, with a crappy 1980 International and a set of Doonan doubles. You might try to use your farming connections to find another farmer who needs someone to haul his grain in to the elevator. I'm sure out there in Indiana there's probably some larger farm storage facilities, or maybe even some smaller ones and the farmer just doesn't have time to haul the grain in during the spring and summer months because he is busy in the field. Ask around I'm sure you could find some farmer who doesn't want to sit behind the wheel of that truck. Another thing that I did one summer while in college was drive for a concrete company. Summer months are their busiest season and seems like they are always looking for a driver. The concrete plant that I worked for is probably the only reason that I got the job hauling Honda parts.

Good luck finding work, I'm sure you'll find at least one person who needs a driver. and like you said any experience helps.
