In your haste to get your own authority... Don't forget to make a employment file on yourself with a 10 yr history, MVR, drug test, medical and all that stuff.

is it a big money savings to do it your self, i have seen it from $450 to $900 for companies to do it
azbraindamage Thanks this. -
you shouldn't be paying insurance until you get your authority. It could be a couple months yet, at this point you should probably shoot for January. I'd see if you can put the insurance on hold and keep that money. You need to take your time and get your ducks in a row. Are you planning on going OTR or staying in state ? If it's in state you may be able to speed up the process a little, less requirements.

Need more than that these days . . . within about 18 months of getting a new authority, they put you through a 'New Entrant Audit' . . . basically the same thing as a compliance audit, but it's done to make sure that you have all the files you need . . . vehicle files, driver files, etc. The individual states do the audits and each state has it's own approach. Kansas actually has a class/seminar that you have to go to when getting your authority there, whereas Wisconsin just sends you a booklet and brochure. It's basically a paperwork check, and there is probably some info around here on it.azbraindamage and BigBadBill Thank this.

you can file for your own authority online as mention earlier , it is not so bad I did it myself and english is not even my first or second language

it took mine 2 1/2 weeks to get granted and active...azbraindamage Thanks this. -
I was told you had to have ins. in place or your own auth. would be denied.
