Peeing in bottle, or cup works great for men, esp in traffic holdups on the GW bridge, women would be hung out to dry I am afraid.

That would be bad being one hour away from home, I think I would have called someone to come get me if the truck were parked in a safe place that is.

 

in a goverend truck at 65 mph. you can drive 910 miles IN ONE DAY.

you all should know that.

so when you make your explanation. make it in SHIFTS, not days.

If you do a little research,you will find out ELOGS are not mandated in 2013. They are trying to get it done,but it was appealed in the Supreme Court and they lost.Companies go to it because most Insurance companies will give them a break,or that is how it worked for us.Each truck will do less production by going to it,so hope the savings are worth it.I hate the idea of them.

 

I was wondering transam pete if this was still the case with you. Is it still working out that way? I've been noticing that getting your 10 break in at the customer is not happening as much to help the situation. When you go to a customer that doesn't have parking, or city ordinances won't allow you to park (utilizing the 15 mph- so you don't have to start your clock) on the street. You can end up at a customer, go into your 10 break, wait five hours to get unloaded and have to move, spanning your time out another five hours cause you had to drive over 15 miles an hour to get to a truck stop.

If you had a really good run, (just finished driving a full 11) when you got there, maybe that wouldn't seem as bad, but you are still adding another five hours, and if you sit waiting for customers to unload you for more than a couple hours, cutting into precious time, two or three times a week, either during loading or unloading it does have a terrible affect on your ability to make good money.

This is exactly what is bringing down the drivers! If this is going to be the status quo then changes need to happen or the money will not be made and you'll find yourselves (those running elogs) logging so much down time in a month it'll make your blood boil!

Sitting at the shipper cannot happen on elogs unless you can use the time to sleep legitimately. You should be able to log in the sleeper if you are done w/a 11 or 14 hour day as long as you're not expected to do any of the loading and unloading. If you have to sit, and ruin your clock because of moving after five hours, then compensation from the company should come through! Are they going to pay you what you are earning, on average, what you can make over 2 hours at the shipper, every time this happens?

 

I understand you're basically talking about broken up sleeping being wrong, and really not making it any safer w/elogs, but it sounds like you are at least fortunate enough not to have to move your truck which you would then have to restart your break after sitting for so long at the shipper. Well at least you'd get your sleep! hmmm

 

You're right BoyWander, about the regional. But, as far as I hear, some of the companies are required to go to elogs because of prior problems they've had. Isn't JCT a big company? That's what I heard about them.

You just got done saying the regional stuff is where it sucks, and that is just like what you said here: "bad drivers, having to sit at customers to sleep because they can't move" but that doesn't make them necessarily bad, right? It isn't the driver's fault (if the company changed to elogs) for having to sit, unless they afford the luxury to do what you do, and turn down those loads and just don't do it. At that rate, I guess it would be considered choice.

 

Wow! Sounds like you're IN AND OUT of those shippers, and probably get good runs! Is this still the case? Might have to look into that company!
