Only crude will eventually be pipelined (7 month season for laying pipe up here). Salt water will still be trucked for many years to come.

Hunt has just drilled 2 disposal wells which will be connected to many of their wells also...so I would say that the statement that saltwater will be trucked is not accurate. It appears that anyone with a concentration of wells is looking at pipeline for disposal.
-
SO does this mean that there will be a lot less jobs?
-
Not sure about ND, but in some areas they drill 1 SWD in the middle of 4 wells and pipeline the saltwater from the 4 wells into the SWD, getting rid of any trucking. The SWD wells don't always work and at that time they have to do a little trucking.

Currently looking for 2-3 drivers for western ND. Tanker endorsement required hauling production water. Must have min. 1yr exp. Pay is based on commission, which is anywhere from $20 to $30 p/hr. depending on how eager you are. No benefits offered at this time. Steady work all winter.

do oil companies share disposal wells with competing oil companies or do they only do their own thing? the bakken is so spread out that unless there is sharing, or large scale development in a small area, trucking might be the most economic way to dispose of water for a while....
-
Some SWD's are open to the public and open to any and all oil companies. Other times an oil company might drill their own to cut down on disposal charges and trucking charges. Oasis, Stat, Hunt and others have started to pipeline their SW. Trucking will be around a long time but the oil companies will do what they can to limit their trucking charges. Change is certain and trucking will change in ND in the future. How far away that future is, is uncertain. I think we've got a hell of run left up here truckin. I would not be worried about trucking slowing down any time real soon. I heard 8 years ago that "crude hauling is on it's way out due to pipeline".......Still hauling crude, and a lot of it, every day here.gdyupgal Thanks this. -
