I'm guessing by "bike" they mean bicycle...since he was riding as "part of his daily 20-mile routine." If that's the case, the truck driver is probably going to get at least a failure to reduce speed citation, since it sounds like he ran over the guy on the bicycle.
We get these suicidal bicyclists riding on the narrow little hilly twisty curvy fun roads around here all of the time, too...you'd think they'd use a little more sense and pick a road with a shoulder or less truck traffic to ride on, but they have every LEGAL right to be on whatever road they decide to ride on, so it is up to you to watch for them (just as you SHOULD be looking for any other potential road hazards) and keep from hitting them. The story said the guy had a vest and lights, so he was doing his part to be visible...and it probably won't end well for the trucker.TRKRSHONEY Thanks this. -
I drive that road not a place for bicycles. The road is busy most days and now is sugar beet harvest. The trucker is screwed, sucks.
