Ambient Sensors

I bet they are monitoring temperature readings. Also don't think the truck computer will stop monitoring idle %. Any out of wack readings will for sure warrant further investigation. The anti-idle stance kills the in truck cooking options... which are cheaper and often far healthier then the truck stop crap. How about a food allowance?! Does that 35 amp hour estimate take into account bunk heater usage too? I'm eagerly awaiting that 25* night using the bunk heater and cpap.......

yeah and most of these truck stops don't have lounge areas...

 

Gary, IN told me it's zip striped in the wheel well area and that the snow will get stuck all around it (snow isn't less than 20 degrees though, so I fail to see what he was implying with it not being in a good spot). I looked all around and didn't see anything there. Unless they popped open a bit of the plastic areas and stuck it in where I can't see it. Other threads on this forum, in regards to different companies, says it's back by the fifth wheel.

 

There is one behind the bumper. This one is white.


I'm too lazy to unplug it and see if I get a fault that might identify it.

Only one way to find out. Who knows, sounds like they put one in somewhere just for their modification.

 

Hm nope that's a crash sensor of some sorts. It gets pushed in when the bumper gets crushed.

Well fellow pumpkin drivers. I was offered a position with another company running day cabs and being home every day, only working 4 days a week. I put in my notice with my DBL today, so the 26th will be my last day as a pumpkin.

SNI has treated me good, I have no major complaints. I just can't see myself staying OTR with the way the company is going, and they won't give me a dedicated, so it is time to go.......

The new ambient sensor is all black and is located between the fifth wheel and the rear of the frame rail on the drivers side. It is very easy to spot and is located in the same spot on all trucks. I saw a whole mess of bobtails in Carlisle this week that were all the same. As far as tricking it, good luck because they will be watching for that and will terminate anyone that is messing with it. One of the guys at the shop there said they are already figuring on having to jump start alot of trucks that are on their 34 resets now that we can't use anything in our trucks to cook with, or enjoy or personal time. I for one am now looking for another company as well seeing how my milage has went from 2500-2800 weekly down to 1200. All the other companies that have these stupid sensors also have tri packs or something to help suplly power to the trucks while on down time. I personally won't sit in a nasty dirty drivers lounge in a Flying J for anything. Pilot and Loves don't even have lounges so you can't even go inside there unless you wanna just walk around all day or sit in a hard chair in the crapy eating establishments they have in them.
