Anybody ever attempted or heard of installing a flag holder onto your house but instead of using an actual flag, using an antron 99?

just wondering if this was possible? I know it would be a little at an angle but theoretically it might work???

Never heard of that one, it would have to be really strong to support the Antron..

I bought a 10 ft steel pipe from Home Depot, attached a Imax to the end, then rachet strapped it to the railing on the back deck....It worked good for a portable setup..

If the flag holders are like the ones I use here at the homestead to hold the ends of a dipole's rope hangers, they're tilted out at about 30 degrees from the vertical. In use with a flag, they let a flag drape with no wind so that enough of the identity of the flag can be seen.
Mounting an antenna in it is going to point the major lobe of the antenna into the lawn on the side of the house that the mount is on; up into the sky at a 30 degree angle on the house side; and towards the horizon, but rotated, off to the sides. Inbetween those four cardinal points, the pattern will be "interesting", but probably not all that useful.
It might be different if there were 11 meter satellites and you could catch them when they flew through the pattern.....

P.S. In the near field, i.e., very locally, it should work as well as any other less-than-optimal antenna, but it will be unequal in the directions in how poorly it works.

Never seen one on an angled flag holder. Like he said on a pole, yes. There's one been up for 15 years on a 10FT pole in the backyard. The A99 might eventually fail mechanically if mounted at an angle. Its so long, the movement nay crack it or break a fitting.

I kinda re-thought my response. If you've got a way to build a ramp out of metal or wood (I'd use wood, cuz I ain't got no metal workin' skillz), you could fab up a mount for the flag holder so that the "mounting plate" that holder mounts to is tilted, and leaves the pole socket plumb.
At that point, though, it might have been easier to have used the wood or metal adapter building time & materials to fab up an Antron holder.......
But the antenna really does need to be plumb to work right, and to avoid physical stresses as M818 said.
