I have to purchase a new 5th wheel for my truck. I currently have a very worn-out Simplex Lite and since Holland bought them, they no longer make rebuild kits for it. So now I am looking to install a new set-up. I am going to get rid of the air-slider and go stationary since I have not moved my plate in over a year and a half, and don't need to pulling the flatbed (or tanker when i was dragging them).
Looking at a Jost Low-Lube style with outboard mounts. I can get the complete set-up for $1,061 at Kenworth.
Just wondering who has installed a new plate in the last year, what do you like or dislike about it......
New 5th Wheel.... what ya using???

I was looking into it all last year as well and heard nothing but good about Jost, mixed reviews on Hollands.

Jost is the way to go..
They also have a hole in the bar,so if your inclined.you can put a padlock on it and not worry about some pinhead pulling your 5th wheel.. -
From what I see rebuild kits aren't really worth it anyways. By the time you buy a kit and pay to install it your at almost as much as a new plate. I've got a newer Jost. seems nice.

Blind Driver Thanks this. -
Vote for Jost here put a new one on a couple of years ago.

Jost Low Lube on the last three trucks, well engineered, rugged (I do heavy haul tanker), and best of all, simple to maintain and not a lot of parts.

Went to a Jost Low Lube after my Holland let go for the second time. No problems.

Yup... in the interest of safety, I would install a new Jost fifth wheel from the dealer.
We had the same issue on a Columbia where the kit and installation cost was just a little less than a brand new one with warranty.
We also put the old one in our scrap metal pile for added value.SHC Thanks this. -
I like Jost too
Holland is really rebrand GF. really good fifth wheel. but Jost is easier and cheapper to repare -
