i am happy you got hooked up with another company, i am really not happy at crst, i am really on the edge of leaving.

i am looking for a new codriver again and , whoever i find it will be a crap shoot, i am thinking about going to jb hunt jsut so i can have a solo truck and park at home.

i know they are a dirtbag company, but it is a crap shoot, who ever you get on your team truck, you have to sleep behind them, and i am tired of losing sleep the first week out, sitting and watching, seeing if this guy can drive.

crst is a mega company with seems like a million trucks, and they have more trucks than feight= that is for sure.

I worked for CRST during the 80's for awhile. I hired on and ran solo out of the Richmond Ind terminal. Other than the crappy equipment{anyone remember the 58mph batmobiles they had} they weren't to bad untill I let them talk me into training for them. After I trained two students I decided this ain't for me. I told them to put me back solo and they had a hissy fit. After argument after argument they put me back solo but my miles were cut by half and my home time disapeared, so i told them bye bye.
CRST = Caution Real Slow Truck, but my own personal favorite was
CRST = Chicken Ranch Supply Truck

Before I found this board I nearly signed with CRST and I am happy that I did not. I'm now applying to KLLM and possible Mav. I wish you the best. You still have your CDL and that makes you marketable.

    Dear Shookup,

Well, I'm 57, and I loved learning to drive a truck. My dream was to go OTR, visit Trucker Chapels, give out tracts, show the love of Christ on the highways and biways.

I had terrible trainers - both men and women. Four trainers with two companies.

Thankfully, I am still eligible to return to trucking, although after 6 months I'll need a Refresher course. But I spent all kinds of money going into debt to get out of bad situations: hotels, airfare, etc. Got off one truck with a police escort. Was lied to by trainers, abused, yelled at, never taught properly - the whole list. I really believe ALL LARGE TRUCKING COMPANIES TODAY ARE EXACTLY THE SAME. Their policies make no sense. It's terribly sad.

My husband is not interested in driving, unlike yours. He has a small business, but just makes pocket money. He's on a small pension, though. We sold a piece of property this fall, so we're hanging on financially. Had to pay off those credit cards!

I simply believe the dear souls who are training with the big companies in order to earn a decent salary have been through so much 'hell' themselves, they cannot function on any level now that isn't sociopathic. They have deep spiritual problems, and a demonic element that HATES CHRISTIANS is also part of their make-up.

I know of another Christian lady student named Beverly who has had a wretched 2006-2007 trying to start her career, too. She's from Michigan.

I would like to keep in touch with you. I can't send you a personal message because I haven't posted enough on this board yet. So snail me at ThomsonPerhaps you're like me. Longing to get back into a truck. The Lord has not released me from this calling.

I agree with you here. Both of the trainers I had told me horror stories of former students and things they had been through, but unfortunately their experiences jaded them so much that they didn't look at new students as individual people with potentially better things to offer but as "horrid students." They obviously expected the worst, and there is truth to the fact that what you expect you usually get. They were both so immediately hostile it was obvious they had been through hell with other students, and I tried to be understanding of that, but I was not like the former students they described. I did all they asked me to do. I did my very best. I was very invested in learning and doing a good job. I was respectful of their space and their rights, and I did my job. When they said jump I asked how high and then tried to do it, but no matter what I did all I got from both of them was anger and hostility and abuse. I never once refused my drive time, threw anything at them, cussed at them, made them late, or was even disrespectful, but yet they continued to act as if I was just the same as previous students who had done those things to them. At times I just wanted to scream "Wake up! I'm not fighting you here, why do you keep fighting me every second?" It was obvious from some of the off the wall accusations they made that they weren't talking to me but to all the other horrible students they had dealt with. It felt at times like they weren't even in the same reality as I was at the moment but that we had crossed over to the twilight zone or something. I have NEVER not been able to get along with anyone, but I could not function with either one of these women. Months later the whole experience just still amazes me. I have never met a more sadistic, evil person, devoid of all human compassion, than the first trainer was and I hope I never do again.

For you to go through it not once but twice makes you a much better woman than I. I wish you all the best, but as for me, I am definitely released from it. During our first home time, as we were waiting to go out together (which obviously didn't work out), I was quite apprehensive about the whole trucking thing after all I had gone through with training, and I asked God to put a stop to it if it was not what He wanted for my life, and the next day I got the news that the second trainer had lied and failed me on the training, so that was my "sign." If God ever wanted me to try it again He would have to come down here personally and tell me face to face because any other way of conveying that message would find me saying "You have got to be joking." I rarely close doors completely, but I have shut this one, bolted it, and thrown away the key. I will NEVER risk going through the hell I went through a third time. You said you got off one truck with a police escort, yet you are willing to do it again? That is amazing. If you love it that much I truly wish you all the best. You've definitely got more guts than I have. Bless you.
