Anyone know anything about Lake Cumberland CDL School at Elizabethtown Community College in Etown KY? I am supposed to start on 16 Jan and was wondering if anyone had some info on them.

Lake Cumberland CDL School will train you to pass your CDL test, I learned more in a week at Crowder Boot Camp for Con-Way than in 4 weeks at Lake Cumberland. I wish I would have went to Crowder College to begin with as Lake Cumberland at Elizabethtown Community College was a COMPLETE WASTE of my time.

That's really all they're suppose to do...
I too live in E-town...I went to the school across the street from E-town Police Station... -
Yeah Lake Cumberland seemed to like their grads to go Werner or Superservice. JD the instructor I had was pretty good, but everything else was messed up, they are based out of Camplesville and are really just too big with all their satelite schools and don't have enough personel to be able properly run it.

I am starting the Lake Cumberland school in Somerset on Monday the 15th.

Did you get your CDL? If so why are you whinning, they are a CDL school not a truck driving school. maybe you were one that did not do so good and would like to blame someone else. Grow up you are in the real world now. -
LCCDL is a private owned company and does not endorse any specific companies, they have recruiters from many companies, they help with job placement assistance and will help place you with a company if you meet the company requirements. As far as satelitte schools, they have 7 schools in the state of Kentucky and I have personally visited each school and was very impressed with the facilities and training I observed while I was there. Sorry if you had a bad experience, but for me and the class I went through we all passed, got our CDL's and are very appreciative of their training.

I have been in the class on the Somerset campus and i have absolutely zero complaints. Dale is my instructor and a great guy, he told us from the get go that when testing time nears he "will not know us" meaning that he will be just as rough as the trooper that will be giving the final tests. I fully appreciate that because there is no sense in making things ice cream and gum drops. Today, I did my permit test and passed with flying colors and plan to start on the range come Monday. There are only 2 of us in the class so that helps quite a bit. Should have no troubles passing the driving portion of the test being there will be plenty of time for both of us to be behind the while during range time.

UPDATE: Week 1 was fairly slow, nothing but going over the manual and videos. I started oct 15 2012 on a monday and by thursday I had my permit. I just finished week 2 which started on monday as well. We went over logbooks and trip planning, then midway through the day made our way to the range where we have been ever since. Starting on the range we started pre-tripping the engine compartment all the way to the rear of the tractor. Once we got that down, Dale (instructor), allowed us behind the wheel. He let us do a couple of drop and hooks just to get a feel of it. He said don't sweat this because it is not part of the test, he just wanted us to experience it a few times. Then it was back to PTI. Day 2 week 2, PTI, straight line backing all day, nailed it. Day 3 week 2, PTI this time the trailer was thrown in, straight line backing then pull up for offset backing both blind side and sight side, nailed it. Day 4 week 2, PTI with trailer and cat walk and rear of tractor not including 5th wheel , straight line backing, pull up and offset back, pull around for parallell backing now that was a lil tough. Dale also took us out on the hwy for a few miles. I didnt do too bad considering I have never driven a stick let alone a 13speed semi w/ trailer attached (semi is 13speed but he is teaching us like it is an 8 speed).
I have had a great time learning and preparing for the final test and i highly reccomend LCCDL! I will update more as I progress I will be starting my 3rd week on Monday Oct 29 2012. Happy Hauling folks

Are you on the somerset campus, I'm gonna be going to it on the 26th. I already got my permit just don't have a truck to test in. Sux the only reason I have to go to cdl school is to have the truck to test in. I asked if they could put me in accelerated and she said I probably wouldn't have to show up for a few days at first but that I did have to go through the whole 4 weeks.
