    Hello Everyone,
I'm sure this has been a question that has been asked a million times but here it is one more time. I'm looking to get into the industry. Something I've wanted to do for years and with my recent layoff I'm not held down by a job. Though my situation like plenty of others is getting through the first year. I'm not so worried about abusive companies or dispatchers or anything like that. From what I've read its something that just will need to deal with. My concern is income. I know I'm not going to make a killing or even a reasonable income but I need to know the realistic expectation. I need to take home at least $500 a week(note i get some weeks will be worse and others hopefully better). I've been looking at the normal companies like PAM, CRST, and CR England. PAM seems to have the highest pay per mile. I'm looking at these companies because I can't afford to put myself through the schooling. If anyone knows of any other companies that are better please let me know and any insight you might have would be great.

    Thanks,
    Sam

Don't equate CPM with miles..... The 2 are not related. And guessing how much you'll make is dependant on many things you have no clue about untill you are doing it.
As for miles, reefers seem to do more, being able to haul more things.
Read the forums and look for new drivers saying good things about where they are and what they like about it...... beware the negative posts, they might not be telling you all the story and each persons experience will be differant. Case in point my best trucking job, was the worst for a buddy i ran with. The job fit me, but not him....... i once heard someone say they love Werner and will never leave, but you will find ten thousand drivers who will tell you never to go there..... i am one.
Maybe put up a post asking what new drivers are avg weekly. My overall in 98 with Swift was approx $600 a week, someone else will do better, some worse.
