why not clamp the laptop to the steering wheel so you can surf the web on boring straights?? with the cell phone adapter in your ear and the laptop on the steering wheel you would truly have the mobile office/entertainment center--just kidding!

Are you gonna open up the bottom board for ventilation? I know that my putter overheats easily and the has been one of my concerns. -

My laptop ventillates to the side - it's fairly new. Yours ventillates through the bottom?

GOOD NEWS, BAD NEWS:
First the bad news....cause it is humorous.
I carried my laptop stand base to get something to put on the bottom to screw into the floor. I purchased a galvanized plate that was to work PERFECT!
Then, to make it even more tasty, it was 3/4 thread and I figured I could get my pipe threaded to fit, making my life more easier. Long story short, butthead Lowe's employee continued to fold the end of it over itself about 4 times before he realized he fubbed duck and went "oops, that must be some thin metal." NOT!!!
Needless to say, I looked to my left at the black pipe section and proceeded to Rubik cube this together:
