Anyway, we were told in school or orientation to call safety if we were out of hours. It sounds like VegasFan was doing as they told us to do.
It was like my second trip out solo and I got to Tehachapi (sp) late night and there were no parking spots, real or make shift. I called safety because I didnt know if I could make Bakersfield (I think it was) with my time and asked if he knew of anything between the two. He got real ####y with me so I told him what he could do with it and hung up. I made it with about 5 minutes to spare.
I ran out of time in Robert, LA. I called Donna and they ended up sending a tow truck out to tow me what, 5 miles to the truck stop? She said that I was the 6th driver that was getting towed because of lack of hours that day.
As far as I am concerned, it sounds like that safety guy wasnt very professional and didnt do his job. VegasFan was doing his by calling.
Stevens brings this on themselves with the silly rules that they have.VegasfanNJ Thanks this. -
4 different ppl. Finally a security guard drove up to me snatched my paperwork and said urban not getting it b back till u leave. They called a tow themselves. Stevens came first tho. -

Thanks Guys... I know that the thrill of somthing new can be intoxicating but I have been around for awhile. Don't get me wrong... I want and appreciate any addvice someone can give me. For me anyway, some of the posittives are, I'm local, vary local. I know the jist of how a profiting buisness works and some of the inner workings thereof. I was a project manager for over 20yrs and in that industry for a total of 30+ yrs. Most of what I have come away with is this... one needs to have people skills. The methods can vary from industry to industry. Our children are grown and we can "hit the road" without to much concern. All business wants to make a profit and sell themselfs to people they need to do so. You have to determine is this a good fit for me. As it is now it's a good fit. If things seem to be positive, have a positive attitude, it can go a long way. -
KMac Thanks this.

Hi BigTruckChuck thanks for your information. Well I think for me it's going to be a little different than your situation, I think I would get around 230 to 250 a week because I would have to pay for hotel and bus ticket and don't forget the taxes and other stuffs. Which I don't mind, because I will go there with the mentality that I will be on training, after training and become a solo driver it will be a different ball game, my plan is not to take the 70 a week allowance, if I can I will stick with tuna fish sandwiches For a whileI guess that if I want to become a good and safe truck driver I have to sacrifice a lot of stuffs, thank God that my wife works for the UN here in NY and she is making good money, so we will not be so tight money wise (I hope)
well I wish the best and hope I will see you some day on the road, be safe and keep me posted
