I worked for this company for 6 years and can tell you that everything you have heard is true !! When I first started with them in 2003, they had just bought brand new trucks, had a better attitude, but pay has been the same !! With any company, it starts from the top down and this is the key !! Before I worked there, they lost a Tanker Division because of hauling cocaine in them !! I felt at first like this wasnt so bad but oh how things can change. I only can give them credit because I had a past issue with a DWI. I did not and still do not drink anymore. I consider myself to be a professional trucker and I try very hard to be just that !! I only stayed with them because I felt that if I could survive this company for so long, any other company would feel like a breeze ! I was 100% correct !! Granted--I could post horror stories til my face turned blue but I prefer to think that no matter what the situation was, I adapted and overcame the obstacles that held me back !! But to be honest--this would be the worst mistake you could make in your life NOW !! I was even warned by a State Trooper before joining Criminal Cargo !! You will get no respect---travel many miles for crap money and learn what you are capable of not only as a driver but as a survivor !! How this company has manged to stay in business is a lesson in Kick Backs !! I love the trucking life and its in my blood so like many others, I put up with all the crap that came but even I have a limit. That limit was met in 2009 !! When a company starts to hide trucks from the repo man, I dont feel I wanted to get stuck in California because of all the bull !! They could have made it into at least a respectable company but choose to take away from the people who kept them in business---THE TRUCKERS !! No matter what holds you back---protect yourself and find another company. Your CDL doesnt mean Jack Squat to them but it should to you !! EAST BOUND AND DOWN !!!!!!!

Snowman, are you so blind to see what I have said and others have said about this company Carolina Cargo? Give me credit where credit is due. I and "NOT" I alone have spoken the "TRUTH" about Carolina Cargo to warn other's in "Respect" for them to stay away from Carolina Cargo. Hiring ex "Felons" is merited and thanked, but not merited and thanked if your gonna "Game" on them. There is a difference. So, i suggest you keep your comments to your self and just sit in your office chair and collect the rewards of your self being inside the company and a supporter of them. Your and their mis-deeds will haunt you come the judgement day, and when that time comes, there want be any trumpets blowing.!

uh....yeah.....Are you saying I work for them? Did you miss the FORUM part of the name of the place your posting? This means that you don't keep your comments to yourself, you POST them. If someone dosn't like what they are being paid or what the company is doing then they are free to quit and go elsewhere.

I hear all of you on this site talking so bad about this company but i dont hear anybody talking about any other companies that give people with a past background a chance to drive truck. If people get out of school and they have a old criminal past and no driving exp. how are they ever gonna get a job driving if no body will give them a chance? You all can say bad stuff about them but they are the only place i have found willing to give chances to people to become productive citizens. My husband has an 11 year old record and he has totally changed his life he has become a Church man, husband, dad, grand father he helps kids to get there lives back on track,he helps elderly people that have nobody on his free time and has not had any law interaction in over 11 years and now he paid his way to trucker school and he has not been able to find any company to give him a chance beside this company, so what is he gonna do besides work for them? This is why they get away with what they are doing to drivers if what you say is true because nobody else gives chances. So who is really the ones doing people wrong? SO IF ANY OF YOU KNOW A COMPANY WILLING TO GIVE PEOPLE A SECOND CHANCE IN LIFE PLEASE TELL US BUT IF NOT THEN I THINK YOU ALL SHOULD KEEP THE TRASH TALKING TO YOURSELVESChinatown Thanks this.

They were nice enough to provide me with a pre-hire letter so that I could get WIA, but after all of the stuff I've read on here. Nope, no way. Starting out at the bottom; no problem. Being exploited; no way...

No need to yell or get mad. I have an 8 year old felony for growing pot in my dorm room. I'm in cdl school now about to finish, and have several pre-hires. Here's a partial list furnished by Chinatown (again, thanks and respect sir). I think the biggest thing is how you present it on an application, and how you present yourself thereafter.
Here's what I put down when asked to explain the nature of the felony: "When I was an undergraduate, I got caught growing pot in my dorm room. It was a stupid, stupid mistake. I successfully completed probation, a treatment program, and have moved on to a clean and productive life. I'm asking you to overlook this, and give me an opportunity to be a productive and dependable member of your team."
It has never really been an issue.

The nature of the felony plays a big role. Anything involving stealing or violence puts a dent in the trust factor. A quarter million dollars left in someone's care you don't know other than there's proof they stole before is a lot of money to take a chance with. There are several trailers stolen every day, many of them in house.
It's good people change their lives around but the reason the felony sticks with you is so others don't do it. If it was peaches and cream, a hand slap and your punishment is over with then there would be more of that crime. So one should think twice before they do foolish things.
Trucking is a safety sensitive job. It's not your every day run of the mill job.48Packard, pattyj and joseph1135 Thank this. -
Now that makes awhole lof of since. Can't blame companies for the hiring requirements. If they hire one person with a tarnish record dated back 15 yrs ago then they'll have to hire every Tom #### and Harry off the streets.
