The process used in Richmond, Indiana was that you get the cdl in that state, and you take that to your home state to get your cdl issued by your home state. The Indiana one expires pretty quickly so they will give you home time after phase I to do it, it you need it.

As for me, I already had mine, so I didn't go thru this, but I know the others that did. Also I would not go to cre, read the posts here on them, they are not the beat for sure.

If you make to through the training cours you will get a 60 transfer license and you will have to get back to your home state to get one issued by that state. Best way to now if you will have another test is to call the Dept of Motor vehicles. But if you do have to do the road test again you will have the truck with you to take the test in. You should have your first check with in 30 days not sure if that is 30 day of starting the course or starting phase one. I'm also thinking about going to CRE and have talked to a recurter. I have read all the bad stuff and I'm really worried about not making it. But I have my CDL book and can already pass the general knoledge tests. My husband already has a CDL, but hasn't used it in 13 years. We want to be driving team. But if I don't Make it at CRE I do have a back up plan and just might have to drive a year without him. Best of luck to you.

after you get your cdl , you will go on phase 1 with your paper copy, if it will expire during your 4 week training your phase 1 trainer will need to request a load going past your school to pick up your hard copy.
now if he is real cool he will ask for a load to your homestate to get your homestate license, if not they will give you hometime between phases 1 and 2 to take care of it, you may need money for bus tickets tho. Call your training coordinater to help you manage getting your hard copy from your homestate. If you are not training on a dedicated route they will usually get h loads heading to your home state so you can earn $ while getting your liscence issues resolved.

Hey EZX where did you find out about NYS requiring you retake everything? I'm from Long Island, NY and considering CRE.

I'm leaving for SLC in a couple of days. I asked my recruiter the same question. She said that you will get a license in the state where you train and will be able to get a license in your home state when you get back home. I don't knoe if you will need to take tests again but I suspect it is the same as for a conventional driver license. Most states only require you to surrender your old license.

None of the people I talked to needed to retake anything so long as the paper license from Indiana (Burns Harbour, Richmond schools) was still valid it expires pretty quick 60 days sounds right to me. The full faith and credit clause of the constitution should ensure every state treats other states cdls equally as valid.
