Dry Bulk Plastic Hauling

    Got a question for you pellet haulers , I've pulled dry bulk for 4 years mainly clay, salt, limestone, sand stuff like that never ever even thought about going in a trailer that is automatic termination at my company , but if we need to move weight we just pressure the tank turn blower off to move it forward open the blowdown to move weight back open two latches on the back hopper before you start blower , my question is can y'all not do that because it causes too much heat or what just curious as I never haul plastics , y'all would laugh if y'all saw the inside of my trailer all the burns from limestone

    It just doesn't work with plastic. Many times your trailer will be completely full to get a full load on, so there's nowhere to move it to. Even if it's not completely full, the plastic is just too light to move like powders do.

    Bullet knows the ends and outs lol, sounds like you had some time in lol!!! He's right it's not all glory hauling plastic, you definately don't want to over load your trailer,theres alot of climbing up and down your trailer, all the hoses come out and you have to pull that hose up on the railcar in all kinds of weather, and secure that hose down in the railcar so it doesn't come out when your blowing back into the car! Then you gotta get back up there to drop the hoses, It's a beast in the rain,snow and ice, it's pretty dangerous too being iced over.. And 50% of the places you deliver to are #### holes with water and mud all over the place, customers always have crap laying around in your way. I thought I had been to some tight places boy was I wrong, you get put into alot of bad situations doing this, drivers are always hitting something and damaging equipment!!

    I doesn't work with pellets, u can get the pellets on the top to run around if theres room for it, but it won't move it forward or back, theres a few tricks to it but you have to catch it before you get to much product packed in there, other wise your screwed !!!

    My railyard loader called it 'back-loading.
    Matlack had 6" loading lines on their vacuums.
    There was a 6 X 4 reducer w/ about a 15" snout clampped on the inside to help fill the front first.

    This guy could stand by the tandem and toss pebbles at a spot on the tank and know when to stop for exactly 49K making it just right for the bulldogs. He loaded 6 - 10 trailers a day & worked to empty the car in 4 loads.

    This thread has died I want to bring it back maybe discuss tricks tank wash locations reviews of customers hell anything that involves dry bulk I drive for a raw ingredients manufacture in Kansas my truck is a 2016 peterbilt 389 glider flat top and I pull hoppers pneumatics and occasionally a dry van any way out customers want product we deliver we run all 48 states
