Imma be a trainer.
Imma be the best trainer too, imma drive both hands on the wheel, double clutch, and only make turns in 5th gear or lower. Also, gotta start using cruise, fuel mileage is a must.

My trainer yells at me for takeing turns in 6th all the time. Now he dont care sinse I am way beyound my training days and trying to get a load to a terminal to drop me off. Have floated a few gears here and there lately alls he says is do not do that when you are testing out.DrtyDiesel Thanks this.
-
A year ago my friend tested out in Marshfield and the truck he used to do it he had to float. He said
it was a pos. The instructor didn't care. I'm sure they have something different now I would assume. But yeah I wouldn't do it til your by yourself -
I floated alil on the test and made it look like I was double clutching the tranny felt like it had rocks In it lol but the guy just started being a in class trainer so I don't think he cared he was cool

Yeah I do take turns in 6th or even 7th, but it depends on the angle of the turn. If its a slight turn onto an on ramp, I might take it in 7th at 16mph and go from there.
I float, if you try to double clutch this truck it Revs the engine and throws off timing so bad that when the rpms come down enough to put it in the next gear you gotta go right back to the previous one. I've had it looked at but I recall it doing the same thing in the last prostar I drove. They said its the way these engines work with the transmission.
I know Roehl wants us to double clutch but I can shift faster and smoother by floating. So I'll do that, instead of grinding every gear while trying to double clutch this bish.

i train, and i tell my students to do what works.
i make them master the standard techniques first, but if they can float the gears and have them slip into engagement correctly, then that's what they can do.
the point is to shift gears without damage, not to dance a particular step.DrtyDiesel Thanks this. -
I agree. If I did become a trainer then I would start by having them do everything by the book. Once I see they get it, then I can let them do a little different. That's how my trainer was. He wasn't strict but he was wasn't too laid back either. I still talk to him to this day. He's hauling gas local in Jacksonville, said he made 3 times as much when he worked for roehl though. He misses it and will come back, but he got out of otr because of his dads health problems.

Same with my prostar Ethan it's like if I use the clutch I almost have to wait for the rpms to come down to idling just a lil before it else it catches and jumps really bad I don't have that problem when I float me and it saves ur leg lol
StevenDrtyDiesel Thanks this. -
I want to train again, but I also want to keep this midroof. Guess we will have to get a divider curtain for the bed and only take thin students.
Edit: I double clutch all day long with no issues in my DeathStar, you guys just aren't up to my elite shifting level.DrtyDiesel and Perpetual Thank this. -
Ha I guess we are not and I gladly bow down to your elite shifting level
