Busted my ### to get from Avon New York to Madison Wisconsin for 10 a.m. delivery. Knew I was going to be late and let them know. Arrive at concert in only to find out that the shipper gave me the wrong order. The freight I have actually delivers tomorrow morning at 7 a.m.

Hey there Van Wyk drivers! I got a couple ?
1. Do you have QC or people net and can you move around a little b4 it trips you to driving?
2. Do you have easy pass?
3 do they alow your wife to ride? We are empty nesters.
4. You runners have got to be making 60 to 70 G a year to make all this ball to wall stuff worth it right?
5. Are the all the trucks that bad or just luck of the draw??
6. Ive read this thread from beginning to end and not sure I would like it there now was interested at frist but y'all
make it sound like almost every load is a trip from hell. Or have you just use this as a place to vent your frustration Which is good
7. @ Spider what county do you hail from I live just over the hil from Freindship dairys used to haul milk in there
Thx for the good reading and any answers to my ?
Stay safe! -
2. Go ezpass! Yes.
3. It's a "fair-weather" policy...so not inclined to allow riders in the winter. But a talk with Tim or mike could work something out. That's how we roll.
4. Me personally, 60 shoots over my head. I run about 130k miles in a year and I'm home every 8-10 days.
5. No, not all the trucks are terrible. We just hate downtime, so we pitch about it. The lemons tend to be the trucks that guys get out of, so they're the ones that get repaired and gotten into by guys getting out of lemons. It happens because we don't have very high turnover. The good trucks get held onto. Also, there's been a rash of Cummins issues, hence the influx of Volvo and Detroit engines. The Boss has his eyes open, and tries to purchase to avoid equipment headaches...so far as I've seen anyway.
6. No. Not every load is crap. We moan because nobody likes frustration, but when I'm not posting, its because I'm busy and I've got nothing to report. I think the tail end of the thread might be some break-in belly aching from our relatively new crew of ex-roehlers. (Wub you guys!) Getting on our schedule, especially coming over from a carrier that struggles to provide miles, combined with getting used to the lanes, combined with the occasional genuine snafu and/or equipment hiccup can be taxing. It was for me!stormin_norman66, mushroom1464 and Freddie Thank this. -
I usually only seem to be finding myself posting when I have problems so sorry about that. All the latest 1 is just funny funny funny funny. Apparently the Kraft load that I have in my trailer was duplicated buy craft and they want me to return it to New York. The broker is only willing to pay the backhaulbut they paid to having it brought out here of course Jay's not too happy about that. So I'm sitting on it till morning until they figure out what they want me to do.

Hey Mushroom, if you're going to Dirty Kroeger in Salem they only want you in the waiting area three hours before your appointment. Not that I really pay attention to them about that, but if you get a Barney on a power trip just go past the main guard area by the maintenance shop and follow that road until it dead ends. There is a good sized cul de sac at the end where you can park. As a tip if you're down in Salem do not park in the Wal Mart lot any longer than necessary. They used to be cool there until some of the unsavory people in our industry decided their lot was a dumpster & urinal.
mushroom1464 Thanks this. -
The freight itself hasn't been too bad, equipment, well i got a truck that's getting close to trade-in, and kw and those other mfrs don't build stuff like they used to. Mostly the last couple weeks have been one person telling me one thing, one other person telling me something else, and that usually drives me up the wall because i HATE dishonesty, and i general don't trust people like i used to.
As for the county, i live up in yates county, friendship has been a pretty good shipper to pull stuff out of.stormin_norman66 Thanks this. -
I love it here...van Wyk has provided me much flexibility due to personal issues....yeah we run hard...but its worth it...equipment isn't terrible...its just starting to reach the trade cycle and the red motors have exhaust treatment gremlins....but you don't really sit around...if its going to be a couple days they toss you in a different truck...ie mine is being used while I am moving my stuff from Florida...
Said...we sub u too buddy....but we really only biznich when there are problems...(you should look at roehls page lol)....
Again I love it here....hard work is rewarded.....and saying no to Dispatch isn't a sin...cause sometimes you just have to say...ya can't do it with what you got...
