Too much negative stuff on here for the DJ & better half.
Just pick a good company & move on with your new career.
My wife is also very feminine & incredibley clean with herself & surrondings & she survived. We weren't team drivers, she just rode with me. She's 30 years younger than me, so still likes dresses, wedge heel shoes, etc. & always dressed very nicely when we stopped to eat. Back in the truck she would change back to something more comfortable for moving down the interstate.
Just tune out he junk you don't like & move on, adjust, and you will make good money your first year driving teams, if you get with the right company. A good company will not waste the resourses of a good team. I pulled reefer coast-to-coast/border-to-border and made a very good living. -
hey chompi,
I'm a student who's considering teaming but I'm single. What is the likelihood of finding a decent co-driver?
I have seen Schneider touted as a good place for teams but they advertise 5k-6k miles/week, which seems a little low. Are there companies that train that get their teams decent miles?Last edited: Oct 25, 2012

Hmmmm, 9300mi in 10 days = 930 miles per day. Our 16hr day X 60mph = 960 miles per day????? So who's running more??? Besides, our company can't keep us any busier. They have trouble keeping us at a consistant 16hrs per day. We do run back-to-back shifts when absolutely necessary, but not back-to back loads requiring back-to back driving. Oh, and BTW, when we run back-to-back, we average 1400miles in 24hrs, not 1000. So watch who you're talking to!!
Sorry, but we are not going to work for a company that 'ALLOWS' you to shower every 2 days, or dictates whether or not we can stop for meals or if fatigued!! That is akin to SLAVERY. There are too many companies out there to willingly work in those conditions. -
I can definitely speak for Ladies rooms!! Most of them are filthy!! Considering that Truck Stops are now Travel Plazas and cater to the entire motoring public, the Ladies room gets quite a work-out, particularly at those truck stops that are frequented by tour buses and Greyhound!! And forget trying to get anywhere near the Ladies room if a bus has just unloaded!!
Plus, if you sign on with a company that pushes you for miles, you won't have a lot of 'spare time' to be stopping at truck stops, you will need to frequent rest areas (quicker to get in and out), and depending on location, some appear to be cleaned once a week or less!! -
If you have plenty of shower credits you can just use when if the restrooms are too busy. Sometimes it is nice just to have a quiet place to relax in for a few minutes. Most people getting off of the bus will not have a shower credit.
TRKRSHONEY Thanks this. -

I'll be sure to "watch" who I talk too. Course I'm on the computer so its hard to see you... Maybe you can put a webcam or something so I can "watch" you.TRKRSHONEY Thanks this.
