No, we don't have any difference on the way we look at drug abuse, period. Neither one of us condone it yet you seem to believe and implied yet -again- in your post for the second time that I somehow do because of my political position. This is a referred to as a red herring, a logical fallacy to try and infer something about myself other than the topic at hand. It's patently false and I believe you -know- it is patently false. Your anecdotal experience is not only subjective but irrelevant to the facts and empirical data as is my personal experience. And I didn't call you a hypocrite anywhere, period, but you continue to have this need to turn this topic personal with your passive/aggressive statements. I'm done with it other than to say I don't believe we're that far apart in age or generation. This is my second career after retiring from my main career which I worked at for more than 25 years. I drove otr to help put myself through college in the '80s for a short time and now I am coming back to the industry, not because I need to but because I want to. As for you, drive safe and be well, also.

It's very obvious that you know nothing about the real world. It's not a flaw it's a real law. Maybe you should take a look at one case out of thousands. Just type in Jessica Williams accident. We all believe you're a truck driver, yes we do, I swear.
-
Amtrak 94 accident also comes to mind.

You're in an industry where you're subject to a random just about anytime.
You therefore 'have no free-time'.
You do haz choices about joining the industry or leaving it.
Or even as so many here do. Whining about the legality (that they can do NOTHING) about. I have yet to see a single post mentioning where someone has contacted his/her representative in government about it.
If you have some overwhelming NEED to indulge or imbibe, then you too can get help.
Roll on... -
Many people indulging don't want it legal for multiple reasons. Smokers in California in mass numbers voted against the last proposition to legalize it across the board 'cause they didn't want the government's hand in it any more than it already is. Growers (organized) voted against it because they didn't want the competition and have the price go down.mje Thanks this.

It's a real...FLAWED...Law.
See, let me tell you something about the real world
since you, as an old man, seems to have missed.
There are laws that are unjust and should not exist. Laws that are illegal or unconstitutional.
Laws that don't serve their purpose, and sometimes gets in the way of it's inteded purpose
and laws don't make dangerous substances safe, or safe substances dangerous
Laws aren't perfect just because it's a law -
Are there no vacations?
having free time is really a moot point because in this industry, there really isn't any free time, but there are vacations, and time off.
In the case of this thread, the OP smoked over a month before applying to join the industry. Testing goes way back to where it's none of their business. -
Such thin arguments from the users. No need to resort to insults and name calling. The whole point is, flawed or not, it's the law. EVEN if it WERE legal, it would be forbidden in the industry, much as alcohol is with a lot of companies. CRST being one example. The only time they allow it is when you are off duty on HOME TIME. Do some disregard this? Yes, and when they are discovered they are terminated
