1. Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

Your choices are not limited. You can get a pacemaker and you'll be just fine. Are you on medication for Atrial Fibrillation or what has he officially diagnosed you with?

I'm hoping it will correct medically, or with a shock. I don't expect to be out of work permanently, but it could be a few months possibly. I can hold on for a couple months, but then I have to make a few decisions for the truck. I have some money set aside, but I can't let it sit for more than a month and a half or so. It's only been a week, so I'm still in good shape. I just don't like waiting till the last minute. I'm already on Toprol. He doubled that dose and added the aspirin. We'll see how it works.

I might be thinking to go back on the road, if I can not find a local gig. I don't have as much experience as radams74 but I am sure I can pass landstar qualification.

As of now, I'm on hold until I see my doctor on Tuesday. I do feel better, so hopefully the change in meds did help. I'm not "not" allowed to drive, but in the interest of safety, I stopped to get checked out. Two years ago, I was 100 pounds heavier. I had type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and Congestive heart failure with an oversized heart. I was told it was permanent. I moved from Pa. to Fl., went on a strict diet and exercise program, and lost 100 lbs.. I no longer have diabetes, with a recent AIC test result of 5.1. I also have normal blood pressure and cholesterol, and the congestive heart failure is gone. I've gone from 13 different pills per day to one as of last week. But I remember what the CHF felt like, and when I got short of breath, I got scared. I am still 85 lbs. overweight, so I'm not in the clear yet.
So, I chose to stay on the side of caution. As I said, I feel better now, so I'm optimistic I'll be o.k. If I can't drive, I'll try to find a driver that will be a good fit, or I'll sell the truck and trailer. I don't want to, but I will.
Thanks all for your thoughts and prayers. I've been lucky over the last 35 years to get to know a lot of true professionals in this industry. Hopefully I still have another 10 or 15 years yet to spend with you all. Be safe out there. I expect you'll see my big green Volvo tooling down the highway again real soon.

Well good luck u and your health and as a fellow trucker your health and recovery is most important and I would love tobsee you back on the road more than to see you have to put a driver in tour ride. Cause I thought I could give it up and drive local but after one year I am back out here. This is my home and yall fellow trucker are my family so I am back out here where I belong driving over the road. And from the way you speak you belong out here too. I am back out in a truck just with a big company that I dont like I love driving for good hard working honest owner operators than big companies cause their dispatchers have a thing with lying where and owner operator gives it to you straight. I am sitting in Bakerdield, CA now until monday from the dispatchers lying. One told me yesterday I was loading 15 miles from where I unloaded well needless to say got empty at 9 this morning called in and that dispatcher is off today and the lady dispatcher told me to head 5 hours to Bakersfield, CA and she would be calling me along the way with load information. Well lets say she never called and when I tried calling she wouldnt answer so now they are gone home and I am stuck until monday. Go figure welcome back to over the road with big companies that dont pay lay over either. Thats why I want to be back with an owner operator so bad they shoot you straight in every way just like I do them as a driver. Well I hooe you get better and your in my prayers tonight, but if you have to take a break for a few weeks I dont mind driving for that shirt time so your truck dont sit and you loose more money I will be happy to jump in it temperory until the doctor rekeases you to full driving. Thats just part of the old school trucking family my grand father put in my blood. Do what ever yiu can to help a fellow trucker keep money coming in for truck note insurance and whatever other bills you have to pay cause two weeks down could cost you a lot. So let me know if you need or would like my help for your time doc puts you out if he does but lets pray he dont and your back rolling. My cell number is 2282382996 name is Robert so if you need my assistance for temp until you can do it again just call I live in ocean springs, ms and parents live in Pace , Fl so I could be to jacksonville in a day to process with landstar if it comes to that and you have to make that decission but hopefully tuesday you will be loading your self. And if not please call and let me help you keep that truck rolling and even after doctor says you can return I will run partners for a week or to after your return to make sure you are fullyback 109% woukd hate to see anything happen to you out there. Please call if you want and need my help.

    Your in our prayers,
    Robert and church

Have you ever seen a fat man dance? Well, try to imagine it. :smt026 I went to the doctor yesterday, followed by a test and visit with another doctor today, and I got a clean bill of health! The meds are working, along with watching my diet, so I'm back to work. I pick up a load tomorrow in Tampa for Chicago, then off to Houston for Wednesday. Man it will be nice to get back at it again.
Thanks again for all of your thoughts and prayers. I'll see you guys out there somewhere. Be safe!
