I saw on here one member who seems to drive for them, but, I'm new so can't PM him/her.
Hoping someone will see this, will post why if I get a hit. Thanks!

Are you talking about the Brookledge out of Oley?
-
Yes ...
-
I drove for the owners of that company back in the seventies hauling livestock, haven't heard about them in years. They used to have a terminal in Logansport, Indiana but it has been closed since probably the eighties. I used to always try to make contact with the Brookledge drivers on the CB, but they would never answer, I've seen them all over the country and just wondered how they were getting along after the packing house in Philly closed.

I'm pretty sure all they (the Brookledge side) haul are horses. Thoroughbred racehorses, Standardbreds (trotters/pacers), show, and pet horses. They are one of the top in that niche.

Yes that is the company, it was owned by the Gotwal brothers back then, I have heard that Bill and Bob Gotwal are deceased, but haven't been able to confrim it. Their livestock outfit was know as Gotwals, they also hauled a lot of bulk cement back then under the authority of CT Hersch at the Logansport terminal I believe, and they hauled bulk cement from the terminal in Oley, but I don't remember who the authority holder was at that time. I don't know any more than that about them any more, I was curious about them myself.

I didn't know this until the other day, but, Xpressway is part of the same company - and they haul freight on a regional basis. Curious because I start training at a school yard on Monday (great - right in the middle of the hurricane), and I'd like to approach them either right out of school, or eventually. I have a good amount of background with horses. The lady I work for now has a 6-horse straight van she'd like help driving from time to time. So, I decided to get a CDL. Was just going for the B but decided A looked good so I went for that and passed all the written tests on my own. I didn't go for tankers, etc., just the combinations, general, and air brakes.

I remember hearing that they had started hauling motor freight after Penn Pack closed but haven't run in to anyone that knew how they were doing. Their Oley terminal used to be out on the family farm, you might go out their and talk to them, it might be that they would start you out as a driver helper or train you if that is what your interest is. They were all just everyday normal people like the rest of us trying to make a living. I'm sure that if you did go out and talk to them, that you would not leave there thinking that it was just a waste of your time. Good Luck and let us know your progress.Njnoob Thanks this.

Thank you very much! Yes I have looked at their website, and it looks like the headquarters is still on the old farm. I had pretty much planned on calling them to see if I could come visit one I get my license. I will post on my progress ... Thank you again, I really appreciate it!

I never thought about searching online for them, let alone them having a website, I will search that out myself, and I will look forward to seeing your progress.
