Yes. You will get an interviewed sched'd and it will be with HR/local GTM and people in Bentonville via webcam.. Have concise and honest answers. They are very safety focused so be prepared for those questions.... You will then be excused to the drivers room and your interview will be graded and if you pass, you may have your road test right away.

The initial is thorough, but not invasive... Just be ready for all angles and like I said, safety.... What if type qustions... Backing(how do you warn others/signal your intention etc)

Dress to impress as well... This is not a typical truck driving interview. Look smart.

Yes, BE PREPARED!!! Take the interview seriously!!! You must devote yourself to preparing yourself, and anticipate the questions you will get...If you don't, a simple question, such as "Tell me about yourself" or "Why should we hire you" can trip you up...Practice your answers...Most applicants don't get interviews, if you get one, don't waste it my not taking it seriously.

First; the good:yes2557:....Wal Mart is doing a large hire of drivers through out the south east. They are hiring off the street so get to walmart.com and get those applications in if you want to drive as it may be a while before off street hiring is done again.

Now the bad....they just announced a new set of rules. They are turning on the Qualcomm camera and will take a pic of you at random times and whenever you hit the brakes hard or take a turn fast...not just during accidents. GPS will alert them to suspicious driving practices( possible illegal turns, u turns and no truck roads) and speeding. If you are close (gps) to another driver who might scratch a trailer, even if you did not see it, they will charge you with not reporting it and will rank or fire you for not reporting it. :biggrin_25526: Big brother and your fellow drivers will be watching you:biggrin_25524: Record amount of drivers fired this year..more to come they announced with a smile. Any incident(ticket, scrape a trailer, not getting out of your truck properly) will trigger a request for 30 days of cell phone bills....or yes, you will be terminated. (has happened) :biggrin_2551: It is not the company it was, but if you can put up with this us versus them enviroment...sign on:biggrin_255:

Where does some of this crap come from? TV Room banter at the TA?...

There are no cameras... The is an action within the QC that is triggered by very hard braking or extremely careless turning... The red light goes off for a minute and it is called a C.E.R. (critical event report). It goes to safety and with it is mph & location... You then have to explain yourself...

As far as trailer damages, what do you expect? A good pre-trip and you CYA.

It has to be a serious incident for a cell phone records request...

Wal Mart isn't pefect by any stretch, but it is better than most jobs that require you to sleep in a truck...

Good luck on your interview at Apple Valley!!!

I have been a driver for Walmart for 17 years and still love it as much as I did when I started. I have heard of the rumors of the store personnel and their issues, but as I recall they tell you BEFORE you ever start work what your insurance and benefits will be, you either take it or leave it at that point.
I had lung cancer a few years ago and if I hadn't had Walmart insurance I wouldnt be here telling you this right now. Yes the deductablle was high 6500 for mine but after that paid they paid my cancer bills 100%. I won't even begin to tell you how much that cost over a 1 year period

We as any company job goes have issues just like any place else, but the attitude you have going in will determine what you do with the job. You want to complain about everything then your probably in the wrong job. I take my job at Walmart very serious because it is a serious job. I make it a fun job. If and when it ever gets to where it isnt fun anymore for me then its time I move on. There is a lot of pride working here.

A Walmart driver position is a privilege and should not be taken for granted. Do what is asked of you and do it safely to the best of your ability without giving a lot of static to dispatch and office personnel and you'll go a long ways here. I would never drive for anyone else PERIOD. This is not your average driving job.

    Good luck
