Those short weeks coming off home time were the nail in the coffin for me at Crete. Checks were small enough when I was running but then home time came around and the wife was never pleased with the paycheck. They actually called me the other day when I just sat down for supper. The wife answered and they asked if I was doing ok. Wife said everything's fine here. That was the end of the conversation. Nothing against Crete but I got bills to pay and would be homeless and divorced right now if I stayed there. If I had to go back OTR, I would give them a call first though.

When I would put in my MT call I would always shorten my fuel by an eighth or two. It might put an extra fuel stop on my next trip but better safe than sorry.

As far as backing at truckstops go. It took me awhile as well especially late at night when tired and the lots full. Take your time and turn off the CB. Last thing you need is a bunch of ####### telling you what they think of your skills.

I did luck out the other day. My brother quit otr with Navajo last week and he needs a place to stay, since him and his wife are divorcing. Trucking didnt cause it, he has "wandering ##### syndrome". So he's going to be paying my rent and utilities while he stays at my place and I can stay on the road.

I'm on there 6 day fleet but have'nt been out for just 6 day's but once.
I stayed out for 16 days the last time and did'nt even break 3000 miles and still was told that since i was on the 6 day fleet i could only have a 34 break.

You made more than me. I got a b-service last weekend, got home Monday. I picked up a load this morning and stopped back at home for the day. I got to be up by Hagerstown MD on Monday afternoon (620 miles) . I'll stop at Hurricane, WV to get psyched up for I 79 and 68 on Monday, the hurricane and blizzard will be nothing compared to that road.

I always put one number below my real fuel level on the empty call, and I rarely fill the tanks full. I'd rather fuel more often and have lot's of showers than to pay for one.

I was on national ( 21 days ) unfortunately I would stay out 4 or 5 weeks in the hope that they would get me more miles. Nope. Very rare that I saw anything east of St. Louis. If I did get out towards Nebraska or Texas warning lights would flash and a siren would go off in Dispatch and they would send me right back into Coreyland.

Here I sit in New Kingstown having picked up a load going to upstate New York, with hurricane Sandy bearing down. The asset manager trying to tell me that I have to get it there by the 6am delivery time. Hey well the state of PA has put the very roads I need to travel off limits, and said they may close roads and bridges at any given time as conditions get worse. I don't really have a choice in the matter. Get me a load going west and no problem, I'll get it done. She won't see it my way.

Right there is a perfect example of why I no longer have any patience with AMs, DMs, OMs, and whatever-other Ms there are. 14 years of this, it's my call. Don't like it? Fire me.

Just got home to try out these shades. MAN they are fantastic!! They fit extremely well. A true custom fit and seem to add space to the inside of the cab as opposed to the curtains. Seems weird to add space but it just seems that way. Nice white on the inside and silver reflective on the outside. They roll up(instead of fold) when not in use so I'm not sure where to store them yet but I'm sure it won't be an issue. Suction cups hold them to the side windows and the front is held up by the sun visors. I'm very satisfied with them.
