Congrats pan.
Question for the "old" people. I usually wear contacts. When we go home I am finally going to replace my almost 8 year old glasses. A while back one of the eye doctors told me to avoid headaches I should try reading glasses that counter my prescription when reading because it isn't needed. I have had to resort to wearing my glasses here lately because of poor planning on my part, and have really been getting headaches. Do reading glasses help? Or does anyone wear reading glasses while they drive? -
My glasses have the bi-focals (yeah I'm old)... So yeah they do help me. As we get older our lenses (inside the eye) aren't as pliable, so are unable to focus up close any more. The 'reading glasses' are magnifying lenses... So help with the focusing. The glasses are pretty cheap... So my suggestion is to get a pair and try it. Couldn't hurt, and just might help.
mama mia Thanks this. -
they help for seeing. but do nothing for your over all eye sights.
it's common to go blind as we get older. your focus dries out. and stops functioning.
doctors always recommend bi's. but no one really likes those. so just get regulars and start getting used to them.
the best kind i think are the roman nose bridges. they don't have those tips that get on my nerves and make me not breath. they're a beech to find. but it can be done. it's what i have since i started wearing.
contacts are not a good thing. and news has them causing cancer now that they've been out for awhile.
you'll never see doctors wear em.
as much as i hate wearing glasses. i prefer them over contacts. only thing that sucks is not having sun glasses when i ride my hawg. and those clip on shades aren't a one size fits all.
readers are nice as the start of diminishing eyesight. but i don't have a purse to just pack around some readers. so my glasses are full time now.Last edited: Oct 28, 2012

I just find as soon as I start reading I either have to take off my glasses or look out the bottom. If I really have to look at a gauge, it is loads of fun trying to look beneath my glasses (so I have no correction) to read close up and then look through the glasses. I prefer contacts because then it didn't use to bother me to have correction while reading, but now it is. I know I am a grandma and all, but it just makes me feel old doing the glasses shuffle.
