Yes. I don't know how ConWay does things, but many companies will offer or provide something in writing (for both their protection and yours) stating the condition of the returned equipment. Other places, you really have to fight for it and even get creative to gather CYA stuff to protect yourself when the company will not give you anything.hobbypassion21 Thanks this.

I will definitely try to get something in writing that proves I have returned their equipment in good condition. Whatever it takes to obtain this proof. Sad to say but the harsh reality is if you give them a chance to screw you over, they will.

You can kinda file it all under one single heading: No one is ultimately looking out for you except you.
Same rule applies to driving in poor conditions or when you're not feeling well. Company has a policy, and may give you "options", but in the end, it's up to you to protect you.

Doing the right thing is never wrong...is it always in you're best interest ? Some may say no I always say yes..a man really only has 1 thing he can count on and that is himself...Do what is right by them and in the end even if they don't well...you can always say that you know in your heart that you did what was right. To me that is the most important thing... MY self respect. Others mileage may vary though.

By doing the right thing and still having the company screw you over, that shows who really is the bad guy.

I can really understand the feelings of some who have been in this industry for some years and have genuinely been stiffed one or more times by various carriers. But the difference comes back to having to live with yourself and the decision you make. Sometimes it's danged difficult...we've all been there.

So if everyone you know smoke cigarettes does that prove that everyone on the planet smokes cigarettes? There is more to life than just what you can see. There are lots of companies that give notice, often much more than 2 weeks, when conducting layoffs. Being fired is a different matter as that often involves some sort of insubordination or gross violation of policy. But when doing planned reduction of staff, notice is often given. If the argument is to treat the company as they would treat you, then logic says if you are planning in advance to go to another job, notice ought to be given.
But there an even better reason to give notice which speaks to my first statement above. Truckers tend to be a very short sighted lot. They act based only on what they can see. The company could fire me so why give notice? Just treat them like they'd treat me yada yada yada. That's a very short sighted attitude. Because as I illustrated above, there is often more to life than what you can see.
Just because you cannot imagine a way in which leaving without notice could hurt you later, does not mean it won't happen. You NEVER know how such things could haunt you and keep you from achieving goals later in life. Sometimes much later. Just because it never happened to any of your buddies doesn't mean it won't happen to you. But if you do the right thing, you stand a much better chance of avoiding getting burned by your own actions later on.Licensed to kill and T...Street Thank this.
