usually companies find out if they are dropped to reckless from a dui because so many people get them dropped down with a lawyer. i think your buddy should consider a different career. If it were my company i wouldnt wanna take a chance with someone with that record. maybe he should consider working in a steel mill or the rail road or something along those lines, i heard you can make pretty good money doing that.

They apparently were not dismissed, but plead down from DUI to reckless driving. The insurance companies hold reckless driving as bad as DUI, so that is going to be the first difficult hurdle to overcome. The main problem is that he has 2, in consecutive years. The companies are going to see that as your friend doesn't learn well from mistakes. Granted it's been a couple years since the last one, but the last one should never have happened if he really valued his CDL.

I'm sure there's a company (don't know which ones though), they might hire him. He'll just have to do a lot of research on what the time limits are for each company. It may be a few years wait before a decent company will look at him.

I posted in your other "duplicate" thread. I'll add here that I don't know how he manages to not have any points or a clean MVR? Reckless is still going to be a major ding on driver's licenses. The municipality must not have sent this in to the state. Some will do that, if the driver pays major $$$$...

Very confusing. DUI charges dismissed ? 2 wreckless driving convictions with no points ? WOW ! Good lawyer ? Subject was asleep in his POV on his own property, and was charged with wreckless driving ? Wonder what tipped the police off that he was in his car drunk and asleep in his driveway ? Was he driving around in his yard in A wreckless fashion ? His MVR is clean ? Or at least no points , and his DAC is clean............? Sounds like A loose cannon, and anyone who becomes affiliated with him is at great risk. The terms " knew or should have known " , "failure to exercise due diligence " , " jointly and severally liable " come to mind. I am not A lawyer , but I know enough about the system to be aware of the " field day " the attorneys would have if this guy got arrested or got into A wreck. All the dirt would come out , the can of " whoop ### " would be opened. A non-driving job , getting clean and sober, ( truck driving and drinking are not at all compatible) and distancing himself time-wise from all of this mess would be the sane , responsible approach. When he's got his life in order, the smoke has cleared , then try to return to driving. Trying to solve A problem with the same flawed logic that got you into it ain't gonna' work. Sleeve

He posted more of an explanation in this other thread...

Having a cop for a neighbor would be bad enough if you wanted to drink and drive. But add to that, this cop's wife is the driver's ex-wife?? Holy smokes what a recipe for problems. I could see where the guy could be lead to drinking if his wife slept around with this cop, leading to the divorce. However I've also seen where it's the man's behavior that causes the women to leave. Just not a good situation for him, but no excuse to lower yourself, and become vulnerable or an easy target for them.

    wreckless is good
    reckless is bad

my opinion on reckless driving is that it depends on the circumstances. you can be driving safe and still considered reckless (one side of the colorado river, 75 is legal, cross the river and its reckless)

yesterday, coming thru alabama, speed limit was 45 east of birmingham on i20, NOT ONE VEHICLE was doing less than 65, if a cop had been there, someone would have gotten a reckless, though they were not a danger to anyone

He can find a job, but it will be for one of those small fleet outfits who dont use DAC. By the time his 3 years are up, most trucking companies will look at the fact that he doesnt have any experience within 3 years. So, he will have to probably start over (trucking school/riding with a trainer).
