Get yourself a Mercury Challenge Test. Parkinson's Disease is supposed to be closely linked to mercury fillings that dentists place in your teeth. Your body may not eliminating the mercury properly and may be storing it instead. Go to a holistic dentist or a naturopathic physician for this test. Mercury is highly toxic to the human body. Yet, traditional dentists are prohibited by the American Dental Association to disclose to you that mercury fillings may be causing your problems. If a dentist informs you of this, he could lose his license. Get the Mercury Challenge Test done. What have you got to lose at this point? Who knows, maybe it will rid you of the Parkinson's. It's worth taking the plunge.

Janet Reno had Parkinson's and this is a good article about her perspective of being diagnosed with it. She was 57 at the time and the dr said she shouldn't worry. She then even went kayaking. May have to copy and paste this link. http://patients.aan.com/resources/neurologynow/index.cfm?event=home.showArticle&id=ovid.com%3A%2Fbib%2Fovftdb%2F01222928-200602010-00006

Michael J Fox is also another person who has it. Which I think he was a lot more worse off with it than Janet Reno was (not sure how she is now though).

This link http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/magazine/issues/summer06/articles/summer06pg14-18.html has some really good info about Parkinson's and the meds and also for those who are in advanced and really bad stages today's preferred surgical approach is deep brain stimulation (DBS), which uses a surgically implanted, batteryoperated medical device called a neurostimulator'similar to a heart pacemaker and approximately the size of a stopwatch'to deliver targeted electrical stimulation to block the abnormal nerve signals that generate Parkinson's symptoms.

Hopefully you will have a longtime to worry about getting severe symptoms. I'm not sure about the meds, I know so many have negative side affects, but the idea is to slow it down some before it gets worse and this would me time to try meds safely.

    What he said.

At least until you either kill someone, or yourself.
Although, if you just kill your self I guess you won't have to worry about killing someone else - unless you do both at the same time.

But then you would be dead, and no worries in either case.
    Right?

Why are you even asking, since you already know what is the right thing to do?

Not a big rig esp, just life in general, it's not as bad for some as others. But the article did say there a lot of people who have symptoms in their 40's that go undiagnosed for several years until it does start having more problems.

Rapid, I'm sorry about your diagnosis. My wife's uncle has had it for ten years and have worsened progressively over the past year. My advice: Get a second opinion and then, if the second doctor concurs with the first, start looking into holistic and herbal medicines. So many pills on the market today have side effects that worse than the condition you're treating. You've seen all the commercials. A few years ago, my doc put me on Lipitor because my blood pressure was a little high. I read all the warnings and side effects and stopped taking it immediately! Could cause liver damage, yellowing to the skin and eyes......what, is he trying to kill me!? Did a little research and started using garlic, both in my food and as supplements. Blood pressure is right where it should be. So I urge everyone to consider holistic medicine and natural supplements before taking another drug.

I hadn't heard about mercury causing Parkinsons, but I have no reason to doubt it. But I've also heard, and read on medical websites, that people who have been around pesticides a lot (such as insect control technicians) have an increased risk of developing Parkinsons.

Keep your spirits up and do your research, and don't let anything be done to you or any medicine prescribed to you without researching the procedure and/or the medication.

As for the person who said he wouldn't trust someone with your condition behind the wheel..........I'm rolling my eyes so hard, it hurts! I'd much rather ride with someone who was in the beginning or even middle stages of Parkinsons than some fat slob who oculd keal over at any time from a heart attack or a stroke. Have a little respect, Moose, and grow the ##### up!!!

To the OP....keep your spirits up. You could go ten, twenty years before showing disabling signs.

    NavigatorWife and acruiser Thank this.
