Nope never been in a hurricane after living in Morehead City NC for the first 24 years of my lifeNO ONE expected it to GAIN strength.....with the cool water up there they had expected it to be a tropical storm or tropical depression!!
The old saying of dont under estimate mother nature rings true!!

The storm has been forecast to gain strength close to landfall due to a tightening pressure gradient since Friday afternoon.

Well ultimately I got to the consignee around 8pm Sunday night, and was unloaded by 08:30. Wind restrictions were up by then, so I headed north to Elkton, MD, then south to Manassas. Sitting in a hotel now waiting for the storm to die down and loads to become available.

Me neither i've only lived in Jupiter or Palm Beach Gardens, Florida for most of the last 41 years! Except I was in Jacksonville, NC for hurricane Hugo! Hurricanes do unexpected things a lot of the time, we've had one take two days to go over us (a category 3) and had another one basically fall apart just to name a few, it's really fun to prep yourself, the neighbors, the rest of the family and work just to have the storm disapear. It is also fun to try to cross the state on SR80 the day after a major hurricane went pretty much the same route you have to go, you know driving down the wrong side of a divided highway because the side you need to use is covered by telephone poles and going off road around intersections because the wires are now 8 feet off of the road instead of 14, etc.. loads of fun!!
