I completed driving school in March of 2011 and received my Class A CDL.
Looking at companies that will take me on even though I am not a recent grad. I have years of experience driving goose neck horse trailers, flat bed trailers, and 34 ft enclosed goose neck trailers so backing wasn't a big issue in driving school. I prefer to get my hands dirty from hard work and ABSOLUTELY love to drive. My personal vehicle has 200k and counting since 2007. I do have some mechanical abilities on my own vehicle and interested in learning about the big diesels.
Any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated.
Many humble thank you's to all the drivers/families as you keep us moving!

Hi There.
If you like getting your hands dirty and getting some psychical exercise then don't go for the standard thing.
Try flatbed or if you can get in at a rigging or oversize outfit it will be a better fit.
Better money and more interesting IMO. -
I would love flatbed, rigging, or oversize. I worked at John Deere Landscapes as a Lead Yard Laborer and found it fun to unload the big merchandise. Learned to really respect the truckers who helped unload, too. After that I made it my duty to make sure they could sit on the yard and wait for their next load.
Do you know of any that would take a newbie? -
Sorry , I don't know of opportunities like that for a newbie but then I'm on another continent so don't be discouraged by that.
Good luck.
