The 03-08 models hav very short injector life spans. They run on a HPO (High Pressure Oil) system, otherwise called HEUIs (Hydraulic actuated, Electronic controlled, Unit Injectors). They have seal leaks, plug leaks on the oil rails, stiction issues, HPOP failures, etc. You have to be on top of your oil changes if you want few issues. If your oil gets too dirty, the injectors will fail every time, mostly due to stiction in the spools of the injectors.

Keep the oil clean and you should have good life out of the engine.

So it might be a good idea to invest in a back up set of injectors and have them with me...just as a safeguard.

That would be a major investment in itself to buy a set to have setting around just in case. Everyone who starts in this business is positive he will cut a fat hog in the hind end until the reality of operational costs surfaces. Hold on to your maintenance money until you need to spend it. There are too many possibilities of where you might need to apply it.

The Intl DT engines had a lot of liner o-ring seal failures and high pressure oil manifold gasket leakage. I fixed a bunch of both on a fleet we serviced.
