Why not just drop the pan and have a look-see? Most likely you'll wanna at least replace the rod bearings. The upper one gets hammered.

Price a set of bearings. You might lose more than that in an unsuccessful negotiation with a broker on one load.

I had bearings done at around 980k and oil presuure dropped from 50psi at idle to 25/30psi at idle under load it would go up to 60psi but it was at 75psi before the bearing job. Ran good for over a year until it dropped a valve.

I pulled out a set of bearings out of an MXS at 33,000hrs and they looked good enough to go right back in.

Agreed. Bearing rolls every 400k is a complete waste of money. Any time you open an engine up like that there is a chance a spec of dirt or metal can get in and ruin everything. Bearings are good for the life of the engine. There is more risk of a problem just from doing the job than there is of not doing it at all.
