I was contacted by this company after they saw my resume posted on a job website. Here is my current job: I have worked for the same large carrier for the past 6 years with no DOT accidents. I am on a dedicated account running eastern U.S. and go to Canada twice a year (I don't really like it). I make a consistent weekly salary that gets me to around $47k annually. I am home 98% of weekends, and a night or two a week. I run on average 1500 miles per week.

I need to make more money, and have just recently started to explore the idea of changing jobs to a different carrier, and will only change jobs for the same or better money, and would like to be in specialized work. I'm 34, single, healthy, and very professional.

ATT contacted me saying they think I would be a great fit and would like me to contact them. The posting online they have gives a starting pay rate of .46 cpm, with an average of $1400 per week. Is this laughable? Can I expect to make at least $47k my first year? What type of home time should I expect running out of the Charlotte area? I love the idea of staying in hotels, and not dealing with truckstops every night, so what are the true drawbacks to this job? Is it really as bad as some people have made it sound in here? I've never been union, so how is the transition? It sounds like they are looking for drivers to run between here and San Antonio, with a flight back for the next load. How many of these could I do in a week? Finally, I do not have a doubles or triples endorsement, but it is listed as a requirement. How hard is it to get? Do they facilitate a driver getting the required endorsements? Thanks for any feedback.

I work for ATT now. I wouldn't do anything else, however I tell people if you are content on your current job I wouldn't leave. It is hard work and different than any other driving job. If I was home as much as you are I wouldn't leave. You will go to Canada with ATT. It can be fun and no matter what they say it takes a year to learn and understand how to make any money with ATT. The benefits are the best in the business. If you have any more questions just ask I'll help in any way I can.

Just found this thread - wondering why it's not located in the 'Bad Trucking Company' category. 'Donnie's Commandoes' and "Melinda's Marauders' - what a joke. Company thugs/shills. Everyone with under 90 days with ATT was laid off this week - I'm gone. Going back to local work. My trainer was superb; a real gentleman. He told the truth and didn't sugarcoat anything. Crappy pay but better than average benefits. I'll miss my trainer but not ATT - thinking he's looking for something else too even though he's been with them for many years.

A large majority of us are looking, however ii would have to be enough money and only local I'd leave. It can be a messed up place to work. If you'd have told me you were local before you came to ATT, I'd have told you not to leave that job. Pay for all new hires suck. I just cant see myself bumping a dock anymore. Good luck with your future

Sorry to see you go as we spoke to each other recently (no, I'm not the trainer). ATT is a complete mess and rumors state they will shift work over to Unimark on a larger scale? Hard to imagine as most of Uni's 'drivers'(?) are complete ##*kups, the ones that stay for any length of time. Nearly all of my paychecks since spring have been less than what I would have drawn from unemployment comp. Getting tougher by the day to stay at ATT. I do find 'Donnie's Commandoes' completely entertaining with their lame, juvenile antics. Hoping we'll stay in touch.

I'm sorry to see you leave also but can't blame you. The shills/thugs are in a 'full court press' at the moment - I've never seen so many on a single jobsite at one time (Fontana, CA). Seems like they all drove in with singles, two way booms while one or two arrived by unknown means. This stuff got old long ago. I haven't been able to pay a home related bill on time since this spring.

Maybe it is because I keep to myself but I wish you would be more specific about the shills/thugs. Been there 7 years and yes I've been laid off quite a bit, but I cant see myself showering in truck stops anymore, plus no cost medical. I've said before and will say again, if you are content in your current job I wouldn't quit and go to work for ATT. Just let me know who the shills/thugs are. Everyone be safe out there.
