Personally, I'm tired of patting politicians on the ###. It's time to stop talking and start doing.

The posts following yours did not properly show the rules for truckdrivers.
Truckdrivers are exempt from the Overtime Protections but not from the Minimum Wage provisions.
All drivers under the FMSCA are supposed to get at least the Minimum Wage.

So figure out ALL your hours for the week and divide that into your paycheck.
Don't figure anything after 40 as OT.
If you made the minimum wage for those hours, the company is covered.

Sometimes, working for McDonalds doesn't look all that bad.

The state of Washington started getting things right.
They enacted legislation to allow truckdrivers to collect OT.
I don't know if this has or has not been struck down yet.
I'm sure every trucking company & the ATA are trying to keep this as quiet as they can while appealing it all in courts.

Too late. ATA lost. As of Nov 27, the US Supreme Court announced they refused to hear the case, meaning, the Washington Supreme Court's decision to pay the trucker overtime stands. He won some 10,000 in overtime pay from his company.

So, if you're a trucker based in Washington State, file for your overtime now. :biggrin_255:

No, I did NOT say I am 100% supportive of a strike. This was NOT said. And, please do NOT post that link on the forum. You asked me to in a PM and I stated no, we don't want that link on the forum. We allow sites in profiles, but please don't use our site just to post and tell everyone to look at your profile. Thanks. I do NOT support a strike...we all need to get our head's out of our butts and do things LEGALLY and right...a strike will turn the public MORE against truckers in a time where we are on the verge of an economic crash...that would NOT be good for anyone.

ADDED: I misread your post and thought you were another guy, sorry. Yes, I do like how you are trying to unite sites...

Whew, glad I'm not that other guy.

As for a general truckers strike right now, no I can't say I'd support anything like it because we'd have no focused goals we'd be trying to achieve and no one to lead it and speak for us. But I will say this, thus far I'd consider lobbying politicians and tossing out lawsuits at the drop of a hat a dismal failure. This Washington case is the first really positive lawsuit I've seen come about in years. Up to that point, every single year more regulations, more inspections and more of being the whipping-boy occurs. When/if truck drivers become united in their cause, I wouldn't rule out using a general strike as a tool in the arsenal to get things accomplished that can't be accomplished any other way.

Let's face it, the public already considers us a menace and the glory days of the Rubber Duck and triple digit trucks are in the past. If it came down to an organized strike that would actually accomplish goals, I'd rather have the public hate us for not having their cappuccino's and toilet paper and have the drivers steering the industry rather than having the public hating us for hogging the road and letting the politicians have free reign.

Oh, and as for that other guy... it would seem the owners of that website have been slapped with at least one anti-trust lawsuit and have called their "strike" off. Imagine that.

The last statement from that site reads as follows.

I WILL BE POSTING ON THIS SITE AGAIN TUES DEC 4. WE ARE SEEKING LEGAL REPRESENTATION AND I CANNOT COMMENT ANY FURTHER UNTILL THEN. THANK YOU TO ALL WHO SUPPORTED

And nothing since. Before that they state that the two guys who started the strike are now no longer associated with the site due to anti-trust laws and they are advising people not to shut down.
