You should be able to get much better MPG out of a 680 compared to a w9.
BUT, which one would you want? A sweet looking hood, or an Aero truck? Personally id go with the W9. I don't care for Aero trucks. If you're looking to make money by saving fuel then you might want the 680. You can still get decent mileage from a W9 but it just won't be as much as you're probably wanting.

The W900 has been my favorite truck since I first started paying attention to semis. So that would be far and away my choice for a truck but could you guess on the difference in fuel costs at the end of the year? I mean if it's a couple thousand dollars alright but if it's like 5K+ difference or something then I think that could become a problem.

It's harder cause you can't look back backing on the drivers side but you learn to get use to it I just open the door better then riding around in some alien looking thing shame freightliner stopped making the classic probably my favorite looking truck on the outside but then again it was still a freightliner lolDrtyDiesel Thanks this.

You mean you can't just peak your head out the window and do it? I assume you can still use the mirrors right?

Witch truck handles better in high wind, or has the engine siting lower in the frame. Might be better for a new driver.

That is the truth

From what I have been told the W900 handles well in high winds. Don't know about the engine thing.

W900 mirrors are on cab, not on door.. I have 7" straights, set your mirrors for 102" wide trailers and you will have no issue seeing around exhaust.
To the OP, if you want a W9 but are scared to lose a bit of fuel mileage...guess it's "the price of looking cool" lmaoDrtyDiesel Thanks this. -
So then backing isn't a issue at all. Yea to me they are the best looking trucks to.DrtyDiesel Thanks this.

As with a 379 Pete , Frtlnr Classic , W900 ( I drove all of em ) anything with stacks up front ...... it takes getting used to and if your short like me 5'7" I had to hang out the door like a monkey holding onto the handle on the stack to back in and see where I was going ! ( In the rain and snow it really sucked ) After I had time in with a truck I could back in one shot without having to do that so it depends on your skill level I guess . Personally , I'd take a hood over the other trucks any day but I'm old school and don't pay for the fuel !
DrtyDiesel Thanks this.
