Should've started earlier. The world is coming to an end in December ya know. LOL.
samurai Thanks this. -
I could have started earlier, but with the holiday breaks comming up and the temp job I have starting the 17th, figured I would hold off until after the first of the year to increase my cash flow and Christmas funds. Waiting will also give me a chance to prepare for the 4 weeks without a check or home time for any length of time that I may be required to stay gone.
I'm not a greenhorn when it comes to trucks, but never had my cdl's. I know the air hoses are red on right, blue on left. Empty trailer crank'em down until they touch.. loaded, crank them down tight, 2-3 cranks in low.. Drop the bags, ease up and be prepared for the load to start pushing the truck out..
The Lumber industry has a clause where unfinished wood products (bark mulch, logs, chips, and so on) has a weight limit of 88,000 lb, go over that and your fine is figured from every lb over 80,000... That's why I WONT get my cdls from the company I used to work for.. Junky (non spring break) trailers, early 90's trucks, and 88,000lb+ loads don't mix to well with driver and road safety.. some of their drivers have been cited for 100,000lb+ loads on 3 bald tires!! so NO THANK YOU lol
Here is their roadside inspection stats lol
Total Number of Vehicle Inspections for the measurement period: 29
Total Number of Vehicle Inspections containing at least one Vehicle Out-of-Service violation: 15
Vehicle Maintenance BASIC Roadside Performance: Percentile: 85
Anyways, looking forward to being part of the team!! -

You will be taught the proper way to drop a Trailer at Millis.
I wouldn't want to have anything to do with Trailers dropped in that manner.
L.B. Thanks this. -
Like I said.. don't want any part of that company training me to get my cdl.. I value my butt too much for that lol.. Thats how they wanted it done so the trucks that are different heights can hook to them no matter who dropped it!
That's why I'm looking for a GOOD company to work for lol -
You do though, because except for the "be prepaired for the load to start pushing the truck out", thats the way a lot of folks drop a trailer.

Riffecreek, Not that I know anything as I have only been out a year. I think you made a great choice with Millis. I trained at Trenton, Bill Smith is a fabulous instructor! The real deal! 30+ year driver! Congrats again!!!
