Airlines contamination

    Recently bought a 06 780 with d12 465hp and 2pedal 10 speed auto trans. Since day one I noticed yellowish oil-like substance coming out of air tank drains (just a mist for 3-4 seconds), asked around and no one seems to have seen it before, anyway as preventive maintenance replaced air dryer cartridge. Then my nightmares started, in one year replaced 5 different air valves (around 400-600 USD a piece). 150k miles later ,3 air-drier cartridges, 3 intake air filters I still get the gunk and the yellowish thing in the airlines.
    BTW I dont notice coolant or oil loss.
    Any ideas what and how is that gunk getting in the air system, and how to clean the airlines?

    What does the line from the compressor to the dryer look like? Does it have the same contamination in it? Also have you traced all your airlines and make sure they are still routed properly? Did the dryer cartridges fail or did you just replace them thinking it would fix the problem? You can disconnect lines on either end and flush them with brake cleaner, solvent etc. just make sure it is compatible with the lines and does not destroy them. If you have any rubber brake hoses you might want to replace them if your contaminant is oil. Sounds like your dryer is not working right or by passed to end up with that stuff in all your brake valves.

    Sounds like your compressor is pumping a little oil into the system. Oil attracts and holds moisture to make up the tan/yellow looking goo. It doesn't take much oil in the air system to cause problems and it wouldn't necessarily show oil consumption of the engine. The air dryer wasn't designed to be an oil separator, so the oil also limits its maximum function capacity.

    Since I bought it used, problem is definitely pre-existing. Anyway, any ideas how to fix it or at least clean the system?

    All you can do is replace the air compressor and the system will clear on its own.

    There is one more thing to check that is a possibility. The transmission vent, if plugged allowing the trans to build pressure or system air pressure from trans controls pressurizing the trans. This could force trans fluid into the air system and appear yellow in color.

    Do you know if the vent is located on the XY shifter? The only thing I can find is a "breather" on the shifter

    yep, bad compressor makes many problems with damaged with oil brake modulators, TCU and other expencive stuff

    rebuilt THE COMPRESSOR in time
