Good to know. They are on an all out blitz to hire drivers in Indy. Billboards and radio ads everywhere. They sound desperate, and this could be why.

Any Liverpool, NY, DOT Foods drivers out there, I am starting school soon and think DOT could be a good opportunity. Any info would be appreciated.

Dot is an excellent company to work for, I had to do 3 real interviews with them for my last interview they paid my fuel to drive to their terminal (350 miles away) and they paid for my hotel as well as covering my meals, this was before they even hired me. The process can take up to a month to get hired but it's worth it. Dot doesn't have any recuirters, the asst. terminal manager hired me. Training is top notch, you don't really drive team, your trainer is actually sitting in the jump seat with you. Since you're out of school you'll be training for 8 weeks but all your meals during training is covered. The pay is probably up there in the top 1% of all trucking companies (youll make over 50k your first year). None of this forced per diem crap, you get sick time, personal time, and vacation. The benefits are the best out of all trucking companies. I have nothing but great stuff to say about these guys, truly a dream company. Oh and extremely low turn, at our last quarterly meeting they said it's about 11 percent, oh and you get real bonuses.

Thanks for the info, they seem to be what they say they are... a good company to work for, as long as you don't mind the work end.

i would like to post to the thread I have worked for them for 6 months I can tell ya that if your a delivery driver you will throw alot of freight and yes the hiring process is long and painful they do offer good benefits just dont want ya to use them gotta watch your paychecks its easy to find that they don't pay correctly and you hjave to jump through hoops to get your pay if you get it I would not say they are the best by any means but they are not the worst either there in the middle the trucks are okay there volvos autoshifts and over all on a scale of 1-10 there about a solid 4.5 -5 they have not much respect towards there drivers anymore like they used to have its all about the office people these days at dot as there losing drivers at a high percentage maybe it will get better but i won't hold my breath

Thing is I don't understand why go to DoT foods to throw groceries? I would rather go to Sysco, US Foods, Mclane, or Shamrock. They only work 4 days and homeverynight for same or more pay. These guys pay 75k and after work you get to shower and sleep in your bed instead of looking for a truckstop and parking just to shower. That's why when I hear how hard it is to get into I'm like screw that I'll go else where. I know they want quality drivers but they better pay better than walmart cause you do 10x the work as a walmart driver and seems like their hiring process is almost just as hard. Us foods and Sysco are great companies and probably treat you the same as DOT. It's foodservice in the end. Just my .02

trust me you will throw truck loads of groceries and when you goto there customers such as gordon food service not only do you have a tie high sheet most product goes on small wood and then you have to wrap all the pallets after you completely break down and and sort the pallets that dots warehouse can make the most mixed up pallets on the planet its n money for a whole lot of work and you are correct they have a way of brain washing people on telling you how great they are until you get in and actually work for them you gotta find out the hard way I am simply posting for people that need to know the truth until they start to pay more they are going to have more and more drivers quit If you decide to come here just keep track of everything you do they will almost always leave out something i was shorted a 1000 miles last pay still havent been paid for that it gets old they have alot of things to work on I hope it gets better but in the meantime i know of alot of drivers looking for a better job!! even ones that has been there for a long period of time Good Luck to all you new drivers you can take what i say or you can learn it your way I did
