About 2 months ago my friend was scammed at the TA in Elkton Md. Even though I kept telling her not to do it she fell for the scam. A guy approached her with a brand new iPad for sale. Claimed he lost his job and needed to sell his stuff. Before she even told me the price I told her not to do it. She went on about how it was cheap and she wanted to buy it for her boyfriend. First of all she was broke and I told her it was dumb to buy it in the first place if she couldn't really afford it and it sounds too good to be true and not to do it. She withdrew the $350 which was all she had gave it to the guy and gave her the ipad. She called me and even though it wasn't me I was poed she gave the guy the money without checking the ipad. She opened the box and surprise surprise it was a floor tile with a apple logo taped to it and clear picture frame. She had the nerve to cuss out the TA clerks because they told her she should've checked before she gave her money. Needless to say I didn't make it any better by saying "Well you said you wanted to buy a house. At least you have a floor tile and picture frame to start off with." She hung up on me and didnt speak to me for a month.

There is always work to be had. Always. It may not be WHAT you want to do, or WHERE you want to do it, but if someone wants to work, they will FIND a job. Problem is, many people aren't interested in working because there are many other hard working people out there that will gladly hand over their cash if they just ask for it. And keep handing it over.

If you want to hand out cash, how's about rewarding someone like ME - someone who's willing to work hard to support themselves and their family, while only actually getting home to spend a day with them once every two months? But no, you want to hand it over to someone that manipulates your heart and takes advantage of your good nature by lying to you about why they want your cash. That's nothing more than a thief, in my opinion. No, I don't want your cash - I'll earn mine, thanks.

(I use the word YOU as a collective - not pointing the finger at any individual)

To give or not to give, it is not a question but an option we exercise freely and will be without question or ridicule.

Regardless what happens or how, everyone cannot be with a job in this day and age. I disagree that anyone can find a job and be self sustaining anymore, the climate of change in society and culture and the economics lack the ability to provide everyone with work as needed.

Yes there are some people going without, whether we give or not is up to the individuals capability or desire to do so. But the people that give should be free of judgement or ridicule.

I usually go to the TA in Jessup and the flying j in north east, now I know to stay the heck away from the TA in elkton lol.

What amazes me, are all the other truck drivers that have asked for money. Especially ones from my own company, they usually want bus or taxi money because they are in the hole, and trying to abandon thier truck at the ts.

The most messed up part of that, they see the paclease logos on my truck and think I am a l/o (I am company), I mean if you went broke being a lease operator why on earth would you ask one for money?

I'll help anyone who says they are stranded & hungry. We'll go into the TS's restaurant & eat. No $$$ ever exchanges hands.
