    Hi all,

I was just wondering who sells the offset rims for super single tires, I've been looking on the Internet and it's been difficult to find these rims in question for my 2007 780 Volvo.

Does anybody know any good sources for these rims in question.

Any good tire shop should sell them. Offset is 0 or -2 tractor make doesn't matter. A 0 offset will fit all.

I don't see any advantages,a friend of mine swithed to ss last year, when the first snow came he coudn't move the truck, switched back to 8 x drives. I got many flat drives over years, and i keept rolling slowly few more miles to safe place, even more to next truck stop/tire shop saving lots of money. You can't do it with ss, ;2-3 months ago, on I-40 AR, narrow construction zone, ahead of me a US Xpress truck with flat ss keept the higway closed 3-4 hours.

I really don't see why anyone would want SS, the little bit of weight/mileage savings you gain isn't enough for me to offset the negative of being stuck on the side of the road with a flat. But, I haul live animals and being stuck on the side of the road for an extended period could be a recipe for disastor.

What is the weight savings if a truck went from 8 aluminum wheels to 2 SS wheels?

What is the weight difference of the tires?

If anyone has so many flats in a year that there worried about being stuck on the side of the road with wide singles then there just doing poor maintenance.

There are now duals out that have a RR that is pretty close to what you see in wide singles for those that don't want to run them.

Keep in mind, if you offset the rims 2", you also put far more stress on the axle bearings. The Technology and Maintenance Council has shown that bearing wear goes up nearly 50% using an offset wide based wheel. Meritor will give you issues about any warranty if you put a 2" offset wheel on one of their axles. That is documented in their literature.

I would side with most here that say stick with a good low rolling resistance standard tire. The best way to do wide based is from the factory. I did it with my present truck, but I ordered intermediate length drive axles so that I could get a little wider stance with a 0" offset widebased rim compared to a standard axle, while still not too wide that if I decided to return to dual, it would not exceed 102" outside spread and still be legal. A wide stance axle only leaves you with one choice.... wide based. I have seen several that have used 0" offset rims on a standard width axle and not had any problems.

There are some really good, low rolling resistance standard tires, like the Michelin XDA Energy, that rival any thing that a wide based tire would give you. Unless you have a real serious need to go to wide based, it really is not worth it to retrofit to wide based. It still is the best option to do it from the factory on a truck order and have everything done right.

But if you are set on a set of wide based, take a look on Ebay for wheels. I found this listing real quick....

I would never run ss but im in same biz as gunner, but the availability pain in the a&$ if i needed a tire out on the road would be a pain.

Guarantee if u get on side of road and need a tire and cant limp somewhere yah bend over and grab ur ankles,

just my .02 if run em better find a spot to carry along a spare so that allu need is a changer
